Spring Harbor Hospital in Westbrook, Maine, located just adjacent to Portland, is seeking an adult service, Attending Physician. This is an opportunity to join a dynamic medical staff that offers opportunities to teach residents from Maine's largest psychiatry residency, opportunities to teach and work with medical students at Tufts medical school as well as others and offers flexibility to utilize a diverse group that builds a multidisciplinary care team. These care teams are made up of advanced practice professionals, nursing, social work, discharge planning, psychiatric technicians, an employment specialist, programming specialists and a family navigator all leading to a well-rounded compliment to help patients with the care they need with a focus on the complex biopsychosocial presentations that are common in mental healthcare delivery today. In addition to this, the pharmacy includes pharmacy support from pharmacists that have a focus on psychopharmacology. Moreover, there is support from a primary care team on site, and it is available 7 days a week. The environment is one of collegiality and ongoing learning made up of regular case conferences and Grand Rounds presentations. As a part of the medical staff, you are eligible for an Assistant Professor Faculty appointment at Tufts School of Medicine.

This position offers a good work-life balance to enjoy all that Maine has to offer, including opportunities for city life in Portland or for a myriad of outdoor activities, including hiking, skiing, swimming, kayaking, among many other activities. This is supported by a manageable call requirement that is most often less than 1 in 8 and currently only includes Saturdays with no overnight requirement. This position also offers physicians MaineHealth' s benefits offerings, which include time off and time for continuing medical education. There are additional moonlighting opportunities throughout the system as this role is within MaineHealth, which has multiple locations all under the same system.

Desired Qualifications & Experience:

  • Graduate of Allopathic or Osteopathic Medical School.
  • Completion of internship and psychiatric residency and/or fellowship training.
  • Current and valid license as a physician by the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine or eligible.
  • Certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or be eligible for examination by the American Board as documented by written evidence.
  • Board Certified or board eligible in general psychiatry.
  • Current DEA Registration Certificate.
  • 3+ years' experience inclusive residency and/or fellowship training.
  • Meet other credentialing criteria defined in Medical Staff By-laws
