The Division of Nephrology and Center for Immunity, Inflammation and Regenerative Medicine in the Department of Medicine at the University of Virginia seeks a part-time (20-hours per week) Lab Specialist to work in an immunology laboratory. The position involves animal management and genotyping, laboratory experiments using animals, biochemical assays of growth factors and antibodies, tissue preparation and antibody staining, reagent preparation, and general laboratory management. The successful candidate will have experience in these areas and performing these operations. This position is anticipated to last one year, but may be longer or shorter based on available funding. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education: Bachelor's degree. A degree in Biochemistry, Biology, or Chemistry is preferred. PHYSICAL DEMANDS This position can spend extensive periods of time standing and squatting while conducting experiments or caring for animals. Also requires keyboarding and other bench work and animal procedures requiring finer finger manipulation. This position is located in Charlottesville, VA. This is a restricted position and is dependent upon project need, availability of funding and performance. The anticipated hiring range is $20 per hour. This is an non-exempt benefitted position.
