Job Summary |
This is a one-year limited term appointment. Continuation of employment is contingent upon availability of funds.
The Auburn University Libraries is seeking candidates for the position of Research Technician in the Collections, Discovery, & Resource Sharing Department. Reporting to the Department Head, this position will be responsible for helping to review and curate researcher profiles and bibliometrics regarding Auburn University's research output in research intelligence tools managed by Auburn University Libraries such as
INSPEC Analytics, Scopus, and Web of Science, as well as other related tools and services. This work includes reviewing, evaluating, editing, and correcting information about Auburn University in these systems in collaboration with other Libraries personnel, other Auburn University units (e.g.,
OIR), and third-party vendors as needed. This position is intended to help ensure that Auburn University's research output is accurately represented in multiple online platforms maintained by third parties.

Essential Functions |
Essential job functions include, but are not limited to:
- Reviews and updates University research output in INSPEC Analytics, Scopus, and Web of Science, including related tools such as InCites Benchmarking & Analytics to ensure that all information is as accurate as possible as directed by the Head of CDR and in coordination with other personnel in the Libraries and Auburn University as required.
- Works with library vendors such as Clarivate, Elsevier, and IET to make corrections, thus ensuring the University's research output is accurately represented in their systems.
- Coordinates the management and correction of individual University researcher profiles in INSPEC Analytics, Scopus, and Web of Science researchers, subject liaisons, and other stakeholders, including outreach to individual researchers as needed.
- Provides reports using data in INSPEC Analytics, Scopus, and Web of Science, and related research intelligence tools such as InCites to Libraries personnel and other stakeholders upon request.
- Develops and maintains relevant professional knowledge regarding research bibliometrics as used by academic institutions, including tracking changes and improvements to the functionality of research intelligence tools licensed by Auburn University Libraries such as INSPEC Analytics, Scopus, and Web of Science.
- Participates in departmental and library meetings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent plus 6 years of relevant experience.
OR
Bachelor's Degree plus 2 years of relevant experience.
Substitutions allowed for Experience:
When a candidate has the required education, but lacks the required experience, they may normally apply additional appropriate education toward the experience requirement, at a rate of one (1) year relevant education per year of required experience. |
