Department's Website: The College of Engineering offers degrees in mechanical and electrical engineering in the Fort Smith area, in collaboration with UAFS. Undergraduate students enroll at the UAFS for the first two years of their program and then complete their engineering curriculum as UAF juniors and seniors. Faculty from the UAF teach junior and senior courses at UAFS using a combination of in-class and distance-learning approaches. This position requires travel between Fort Smith and Fayetteville to offer face-to-face instruction of courses on both campuses. The duties of the Instructor include strengthening departmental excellence through developing and teaching core undergraduate courses, mentoring and advising students on career options in mechanical engineering, participating in teaching-centric professional development, and providing service activities commensurate with the position. Applicants should have a minimum of an MS degree in mechanical engineering or closely related fields. Applicants should also be committed to undergraduate education and demonstrate the skills and/or industry experience (e.g., manufacturing, design, or consulting) necessary to be an effective mechanical engineering educator. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years of experience working in industry and the ability to travel to both University of Arkansas Fayetteville campus and Fort Smith campus. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.
