About the Role: As a Building Operating Engineer at JLL, you will be responsible for performing an intermediate level of repairs, maintenance, and improvements on facility Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP), and related systems. You'll work in a dynamic environment, ensuring our facilities meet the highest standards of performance, safety, and energy efficiency.
Key Responsibilities: Operate, maintain, and repair building mechanical systems including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot issues across various building systems Respond to tenant requests and emergency situations promptly and professionally Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to building operations Implement energy management and sustainability initiatives Maintain accurate logs and records of all maintenance activities and equipment performance Collaborate with property management teams to support overall building objectives Participate in ongoing training to stay current with industry best practices and technological advancements Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred 2-3 years of building operating engineer experience, preferably in healthcare facilities Strong knowledge of building automation systems, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems Familiarity with energy management practices and sustainability principles Proficiency in using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call rotations as needed Required Licenses and Certifications: Valid Washington State driver's license Universal CFC card City of Seattle Refrigeration Operator license Electrical 07 License (If the employee has the required hours, they will have one year to obtain the license. If they don't have the hours, they will have one year from the date they acquire enough hours to test for the license, to obtain the license.) City of Seattle Grade 3 Boiler license (required in certain locations) Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces Capable of standing, walking, and climbing for extended periods |
