Description The Director of Learning and Development will develop and oversee the strategy for learning and organizational development functions in collaboration with the Vice President of Human Resources. Will develop, plan, implement, direct, and evaluate activities, resources, programs and services for learning and organizational development. Will be responsible for the overall direction and operational success in accordance with national standards and Children's National policies and procedures.
Qualifications Minimum Education
Bachelor's Degree Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration or related field (Required)
Master's Degree Human Resources, Organizational Development or MBA (Preferred)

Minimum Work Experience
10 years Progressive HR Training and Organizational Development related experience (Required)
4 years Supervisory/management experience in related job function. (Required)

Required Skills/Knowledge
Thorough and broad knowledge of learning and talent development planning, practices and techniques.
Proven skills in organizational assessment and planning.
Strong business acumen as an HR leader.
Familiarity with HR policies, procedures and practices.
Proven ability to develop and effectively establish and manage programs, projects and initiatives within a large, complex organization.
Strong project management, delegation and prioritization skills.
Strong interpersonal skills as exhibited by the ability to influence others and build collaborative relationships both within HR and across the organization with individuals at all levels, as well as outside vendors.
Excellent written and verbal communication and training skills

Functional Accountabilities
Strategy Development
  • Use a variety of methodologies and sources to assess organizational training and development needs and develop a comprehensive strategy to meet those needs.
  • Develop, implement and evaluate a comprehensive Management Development Program to enhance leadership and managerial capability.
  • Employ a variety of assessment tools, coaching, team-building and facilitative/instructional methods to ensure effective program delivery .
  • Evaluate current as well as new program initiatives for effectiveness, feasibility and cost; make changes as needed.
  • Ensure training needs are met for on-going regulatory compliance including JCAHO, OSHA, etc.
  • Develop a variety of communication strategies to engage the workforce in learning opportunities and to promote services offered.
Relationship Management
  • Assess and monitor staffing requirements and align departments to effectively and efficiently meet organizational needs.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to facilitators, trainer and manager in the delivery of training & OD services.
  • Establish, build and sustain professional contacts with key stake holders internally and externally.
Training Systems
  • See the potential of information resources and utilize various systems and technology to enhance program delivery and user experience.
  • Provide regular reports to managers and staff to inform results, track attendance and compliance
Organizational Development
  • Identify and develop ways to provide positive reinforcement/rewards for staff at all levels and to enhance CNMC as an excellent place to work.
  • In collaboration with VP Human Resources, lead organizational diagnosis by understanding business needs (current and future), examine what is working and what is not and recommend a path to positive change and enhancement of business unit/clinical performance.
  • Introduce change management tools and methodologies to drive organizational and departmental changes and facilitate cultural
  • transformation.
  • Build the breadth and depth of the organization's human capacity through performance management, competency assessment, succession planning and career development.
  • Collaborate with HR Business Partners to identify existing unit bench strength and development plans to prepare potential successors.
