Entry-Level Construction Materials Engineer Requisition Number: 2024-1580-06 S&ME is looking for a motivated and passionate entry-level Construction Materials Engineer to join our Construction Services team in Greensboro, North Carolina. As an entry-level Construction Materials Engineer, you will be vital in ensuring quality and safety by assessing and verifying construction materials, performing field and laboratory testing, and supporting project engineers/managers in delivering solutions to challenging construction projects. Your Day-to-Day: Collaborate with Experts: Work closely with licensed engineers and senior staff to learn and grow in construction materials testing and inspection. Field Testing: Perform testing and inspections on construction materials, including soil, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates, ensuring compliance with project specifications. Data Management: Accurately document field activities and test results using software such as MetafieldA to maintain project integrity and efficiency. Proposal and Report Preparation: Assist in preparing project proposals and reports, ensuring technical accuracy and alignment with client needs. Client Support: Communicate with clients and project stakeholders, providing updates and ensuring project goals are met effectively. What You Bring: A bachelor's degree in Civil, Geotechnical, Construction Engineering, or a related field (or the ability to obtain it within six months) EIT certification or the ability to obtain it within six months of hire, a plus A basic understanding of construction plans and specifications Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and a willingness to learn industry-specific software A commitment to obtaining relevant certifications (e.g., ICC, ACI, DOT) in areas like aggregates, asphalt, soil, reinforced concrete, or masonry Working Conditions and Physical Demands: You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment such as: Working outdoors in various weather conditions and outside normal business hours when needed. Walking over uneven terrain and safely maneuvering equipment such as loaded wheelbarrows. Lifting and carrying 40-50 lbs. regularly. Traveling out-of-town and overnight for assignments as required.
