Position Summary |
Dr. Kelly A. Murphy of the Winston-Salem State University Department of Psychological Sciences is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow to join her research team for a project dedicated to enhancing the recruitment and retention of Black and Latinx students in Psychology Ph.D. programs.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to critical research aimed at addressing disparities in graduate education and promoting diversity in the field of psychology.
This position is funded by an
NSF
CAREER project entitled
Recruitment, Retention, and Graduation: Increasing Representation among Psychology Ph.D. Recipients, and Black and Latinx individuals are highly encouraged to apply. Although it is preferred that the candidate arrange to be local, there may be some flexibility for this to be a hybrid or remote position.
This is a 12-month position with the possibility of renewal for 6- or 12-month terms. Start date is January 2025.
Responsibilities:
The overarching goals of the study are to (a) identify and assess recruitment and retention strategies for Black and Latinx Psychology Ph.D. students at R1 institutions, and (2) communicate the findings through print, digital, and curricular materials to educational institutions and individual students. The Postdoctoral Fellow be engaged with the following responsibilities:
Data Analysis: Analyze quantitative and qualitative data to assess the effectiveness of recruitment and retention strategies and identify best practices. Dissemination: Present research findings at conferences, publish articles in peer-reviewed journals, and contribute to the development of a webinar and best practices guide for Psychology Ph.D. programs. Curriculum Development: Develop and test a Ph.D. preparatory curriculum for undergraduates that addresses the unique challenges faced by Black and Latinx students. Mentorship: Provide mentorship and support to Black and Latinx undergraduate and graduate students working on the project.
