JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Penn State Behrend is seeking a candidate for a research technologist to support our Biomedical Translational Research Laboratory. Primary purpose of this position is to develop, design, and execute research projects, under the general direction of the faculty member, and to coordinate all operational activities in the lab.

Representative Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Develop, design, and execute biomedical research projects including utilizing the primary research literature and current methodologies.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of projects and activities in the laboratory.
  • Execute and develop data collection procedures; record, correlate, and analyze data; prepare analysis summaries
  • Contribute to the design of research methods; identify potential problems; recommend solutions and technical approaches for problem solving
  • Make recommendations for the use of data collection, management, and visualization software
  • Train users in equipment operation and research techniques; explain and demonstrate technology and equipment capabilities, limitations, and outcomes
  • Develop project protocols; provide input in determining feasibility of goals and objectives; responsible for assuring quality, cost effectiveness and timeliness of assigned projects
  • Generate, analyze, and organize date for use in reports, manuscripts, or presentations in order to disseminate findings to the larger research community
  • Coordinate operational activities in the biomedical research laboratory, including ordering specialized supplies and equipment, maintain digital records and data, inventory, storage, and maintenance of supplies, lab ware, chemicals and chemical waste, and instruments essential to the operation of the lab.

This position typically requires a bachelor's degree or higher, masters preferred, in biology or a related field. Additionally, 1 to 3+ years of experience is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

The salary range for this position, including all possible grades is:

$34,800.00 - $50,500.00
