The Office of the University Registrar at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for an Assistant Registrar for Technology.

About the Opportunity

This position manages the Office of the University Registrar (OUR) Technology unit, including supervising the technology unit.

What You'll Do



  • Oversees all student, course, registration, and Degree Works reporting for the Office of the University Registrar utilizing Argos and Tableau.
  • Serves as liaison to the colleges and departments on data requests
  • Serves as liaison between the OUR and the Provost's office for reporting and data needs
  • Directs and executes the proper coding, updating, and modification of Argos Datablocks, reports, and schedules
  • Leads and verifies all end-of-term reporting for the OUR
  • Generates weekly enrollment reports to various areas of the University
  • Serves as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for enrollment, student, registration, faculty, and course data within the larger campus-wide Data Governance framework.
  • In concert with the Associate Registrar for Academic Services, ensures all registered students meet pre-requisite requirements for upcoming terms
  • Serves as module chair for OUR Banner, Argos, and Workflow classes
  • Provides reporting and interpretive analysis to inform enrollment management and student success strategies.
  • Performs BI systems testing, including data quality assurance, operations process, performance, and usability testing.
  • Leads and manages the creation and distribution of routine and ad-hoc queries, business intelligence dashboards, and complex analytical reports on all aspects of student data that are used for retention, course planning, department review, and enrollment management functions, for consumption by internal office staff, the provost, and the wider WVU community.
  • Serves as a member of the OUR Senior Staff committee
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the University Registrar

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required (preferably in the liberal arts, education, computer science, or related field).
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience involving each of the following:

    • Report creation, preferably in a Registrar's Office
    • Experience with a student information system (preferably Banner).
    • Experience with reporting tools (preferably Argos and Tableau)
    • Experience with a computerized records management system (preferably a student information system) or similar database management experience.
    • Experience communicating effectively both orally and in writing with diverse groups of constituents.


  • A minimum of one (1) years of experience involving:

    • Experience with project development, management, testing, and implementation.


  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.


Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities



  • Principles, practices, and techniques used in the development, maintenance and analysis of computer systems, programs, and applications.
  • Program, design, code and maintain reports utilizing SQL
  • Debug programs by preparing test data and testing system operations.
  • Understanding of the data structure of SIS
  • Verify and assure accuracy of data, information, and requirements for OUR reports
  • Data analysis for assessment
  • Review, analyze and modify existing reports as necessary.
  • Ability to analyze current processes and devise innovative solutions.
  • Record-keeping and report preparation techniques.
  • Knowledge of relational databases for reporting purposes.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's degree.
