West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech) is a divisional campus of West Virginia University (WVU) focused on four-year undergraduate education. The campus is located in Beckley, West Virginia, near the New River Gorge National Park and Preserve, world-class whitewater rafting, and other outdoor recreation activities. WVU Tech is currently inviting applications for the following employment opportunity:

The Department of Biology in the School of Arts and Sciences seeks to hire a full-time, teaching-track position. Teaching-track positions are not eligible for tenure but are hired on a 3-year, renewable contract and are eligible for promotion.

Teaching responsibilities include Genetics, Evolution, Human Anatomy and Physiology, and Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy. Depending on department scheduling, other courses that may be assigned include General Biology (lecture or lab, as part of a team of instructors). Additional upper division course(s) not currently included in our curriculum may be developed as student interest and resources allow. Other duties typically assigned to WVU Tech faculty include: service on committees, academic advising, outreach, and curriculum development. Research is not part of this position.

Qualifications

Must have at least a Master's degree in Biology, or related discipline, with 1-2 years of experience teaching evolutionary biology, genetics, and/or anatomy and physiology at the undergraduate level. Excellent oral and written communication skills and a commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentoring are required.
