We supply a unique portfolio of atmospheric and process gases, equipment, and services. We own and operate a diverse portfolio of industrial gas plants, develop innovative technology, applications, and equipment solutions, and internally perform the engineering, procurement, and construction of our own plants.

We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to be responsible for all aspects of daily operation of the LaSalle, IL air separation facility (ASU) and 7 on-site gas generation plants in Chicago and Eastern Iowa.

This role requires an understanding of all aspects of site responsibilities (safety, plant operation, distribution, maintenance, troubleshooting, and customer communications) with a specific focus on leadership, operating skills, project management and execution. Travel will be ~20% and regional (within 2hr driving distance).

Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of Operations & Distribution Supervisors, Onsite Gas Plant Supervisors, Operations Technicians, Vehicle Mechanics, and Drivers to develop site talent through coaching, training, and progression boards.

  • Dedication to safety, including Basic Safety Process (BSP) compliance, process safety management, and implementation of EHS policies.

  • Promotion and support of customer relations through effective communication.

  • Overall management of product distribution activities, including driver supervisor, drivers, and vehicle mechanics.

  • Function in a leadership role during major planned maintenance shutdowns.

  • Solving plant process or mechanical problems, coordinating maintenance activities, driving plant efficiency and plant projects.

  • 24/7 on-call responsibilities for response to plant alarms and shutdowns.

  • Identifying maintenance concerns and implementing corrective/preventive measures while working within planned maintenance budgets.

  • Working and communicating regularly and effectively with plant support groups including engineering teams, asset manager, maintenance manager, logistics, and other central teams.

Required Skills / Abilities:
  • Solid understanding of industrial plant equipment such as pressure systems, rotating machinery, instrumentation, analytical and electrical systems.

  • Experience using the MS Office suite such as Word and Excel are essential. A working knowledge of SAP is advantageous.

  • Experience in estimating projected spend/ cost estimates for forecasting purposes.

  • Experience, knowledge and initiative of leading major planned shutdowns.

  • Experience in the responsibilities listed above.

  • Self-starter with validated managerial, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

  • A track record of success in areas of safety, environmental, quality and employee involvement.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

  • Capacity to work independently with equal ability to work very effectively as a team.

Minimum Hiring Requirements:
  • Maintenance or I&E background.

  • Chemical or Mechanical Engineering degree, or related experience, is preferred.

  • 5+ years of diversified plant experience with progressively increasing scope of responsibility.

  • Experience in ASU plant operations and maintenance or operations of equivalent complexity is desirable.

  • Demonstrated computer skills.
