Highway Civil Design - Junior-to-Mid Level

Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively looking for a Highway Civil Design to join our Ontario office. As part of the Transportation Group, the Highway Civil Design supports in a variety of projects - roadway, municipal, port, or rail design projects and develop plans for projects across the state, US and potentially internationally. Familiar with a variety of civil engineering type projects, has permitting experience and a strong existing professional network with municipal, NCDOT or regulatory agency staff is desired.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Perform engineering design tasks for roadway, municipal, rail and port projects from preliminary to final design
• Develop specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages
• Begin to foster working relationships with regulatory agencies, local government, NCDOT and state clients, as well as private clients
• Provide engineering design services for traditional design-build and design-build highway projects
• Mentor and assist junior engineers in developing final design plans, including but not limited to implementation and knowledge of cross sections, traffic control, drainage, and signing and pavement markings plans
• Assist in coordinating design activities and meetings between design staff, subcontractors, and client managers
• Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling performance
• Identify schedule and cost variances and develop and implement recommendations for corrective action

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in civil or transportation related engineering
• 3 to 5 years of experience designing transportation/roadway engineering projects
• Software experience:
  • Microstation/Geopak, OpenRoads Designer
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Bluebeam Revu and/or Adobe Acrobat
• Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
• Availability and willingness to travel
• All new hires will be required to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check in compliance with NIST 800-171

Base salary range:

$90,000 to $110,000 based on years of experience, level of education obtained, professional registration, and meeting required qualification in job description.

Base salary range only applicable for candidates who will be hired and working in the California markets.

Working conditions:

Sedentary for prolonged period of time, interact with clients, and travel occasionally.
