Job Summary
Reporting to the Director of Controllership EMEIA and Global RTR and part of our Finance Shared Service Center (FSSC) team, the manager will be responsible for ensuring effective Indirect Tax compliance for North American entities.
Responsibilities/Key Competencies
- Perform / coordinate:
- Sales and use Tax returns
- GST/HST/PST returns for Canadian operations
- Property tax renditions
- Other SALT Annual reports and miscellaneous license returns
- Related general ledger account reconciliations
- Execution of timely SALT payments through Accounts Payable team
- Manage exemption certificate maintenance for both customers and vendors
- Research SALT queries to ensure compliance
- SALT-related advisory for a variety of departments
- Lead sales and use tax audits, including related settlement negotiations
- Coordination of external service providers
- Foster a work environment that aligns the team in the achievement of corporate objectives while developing team members, building redundancy, and ensuring business continuity. Examples of team development include succession planning, staff development plans, engagement enhancement through identification and resolution of potential impediments to progress. The role is coach and mentor to all direct and indirect reports.
Qualifications and attributes
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA and/or MBA advantageous
- At least 8 years of relevant Indirect Tax experience
- Resilient, accustomed to working to tight and changeable deadlines, deals well with ambiguity
- Team player, capable of working in multi-disciplinary teams (e.g. BU, Direct Tax, Legal, HR, SSC) across several locations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Problem solver
- Demonstrates compliance-based mindset, understanding importance of policies and processes
- Prior extensive use of the following software tools advantageous: Vertex, CertifyTax, Oracle R12, SAP ECC, BlackLine, MS Office
- Availability to occasionally travel to other domestic sites and abroad
