Position description

The Department of Neurology at the University of California, Davis, School of Medicine, is recruiting a full-time Clinical Neuropsychologist in the Clinical X series at the Assistant or Associate rank. Faculty in this series are expected to engage in teaching, independent research, other creative work, and to demonstrate professional competence and activity in the area of neuropsychology, and provide University and public service.

EXPECTATIONS

The successful candidate will maintain a program of research that focuses on cognitive aging and Alzheimer's disease and related disorders. The incumbent will have a background in the development and/or implementation of innovative digital technologies in the assessment and monitoring of older adults with cognitive impairment and/or to support functional independence. Research utilizing digital tools to support caregivers of individuals with cognitive impairment/dementia and/or to facilitate collaborative care across care providers and care receivers is also preferred. The incumbent will collaborate, as relevant, in ongoing research projects at UC Davis in the area of cognitive aging and Alzheimer's disease. S/he will be expected to participate in teaching activities, including teaching and supervision of postdoctoral fellows, neurology residents, medical students and/or other trainees. The incumbent may also be expected to provide some outpatient clinical care as a neuropsychologist performing neuropsychological evaluations. All faculty members are required to provide service to the department and University.

The UC Davis Department of Neurology and UC Davis Health teaching hospital are nationally ranked in US News & World Report. UC Davis Alzheimer's Disease Research Center has been funded by the National Institute of Aging for over 25 years and supports many ongoing studies rated to Alzheimer's disease and related disorders ranging from basic science to clinical observational studies, epidemiological cohort studies and intervention trials. The department of Neurology also has a Clinical Neuropsychology Postdoctoral Fellowship Training Program. The department continues to expand with 50 clinical faculty across all neurological specialties with excellent nursing, staff, social work, and pharmacological support.


Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must possess or be eligible for the following:

* Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in an APA Accredited Clinical Psychology Program with a specialization in Neuropsychology

* Completion of a one-year APA approved internship with specialization in Neuropsychology

* Completion of a two-year postdoctoral level experience in Clinical Neuropsychology

* California license as Clinical Psychologist or license eligibility

* An outstanding record of research productivity in the area of cognitive aging, Alzheimer's disease

* Demonstrated skills in longitudinal modeling of cognition functioning; experience integrating a wide range of disease related factors, life course variables and biomarker data and cognitive outcome data.

* Teaching experience at the graduate or postdoctoral level

* Ability to foster collegiality and work collaboratively in a diverse environment

* Ability to adhere to University policies and procedures
