The internship with the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) team, will assist the team with performing data gathering and analysis, helping create and identify Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), and developing overall metrics and dashboards to track program goals. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Leverage Excel and other technology tools to analyze and improve data integrity and most efficiently assure regulatory goals.
- Assist the CSR-CRA team in developing KPIs and KRIs through leveraging various data and systems, including Power BI and Salesforce.
- Assist the team in creating reports and dashboards that will help facilitate and track overall program goals across markets and regions.
- Assist the CSR-CRA team with deepening nonprofit community relationships including engaging employees with high impact volunteer activities and participating in area events.
- Create documentation that supports and sustains programs and best practices such as dashboards, process flow diagrams, desktop procedures, research findings and presentations.
- Research best practices and benchmarking with respect to other corporations/banks to assess their viability at Valley.
- Maintain schedule of work and summaries of activities, track projects toward completion.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills:
- Excellent understanding of quantitative analysis, including data integrity, data gathering, and developing metrics.
- Proficient understanding of Key Performance Indicators, Key Risk Indicators, and how to develop and track them.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Required Experience:
- Enrollment in a 4-year college or university, with a concentration in Business, Data Management, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Data Science, Statistics, or Public Policy or related field preferred.
- Experience with data management and reporting tools such as Power BI and Salesforce a plus.

The Valley Intern Program (VIP) is a unique and challenging 9-week experience for diverse, talented and motivated students interested in gaining relevant experience in their specific area of study within the banking industry. As a Valley intern you will be part of a team and work on projects that enable you to gain real-world skills and experience -- integrating academic learning with practical application. We offer the opportunity to develop the knowledge and skills necessary to grow professionally and contribute to the end results of the assigned projects.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Support your manager in performing research and/or analysis on specific topics.
- Independently complete tasks that contribute to larger projects relevant to the assigned department.
- Participate in meetings and team discussions to gain insight and contribute to the team's goals or projects.
- Communicate with team members and other departments to coordinate work, gather information and develop final work products.
- Join team building activities to establish cross functional relationships within the Valley community.
- Participate in VIP Mentorship Program meetings with your mentor to enhance your business acumen, network with senior leaders and develop technical and professional skills.
- Document and report on progress and results of projects and tasks.
- Attend professional development sessions/classes.
