ABOUT THE ROLE

The IT Security Analyst helps carry out MYR Group's information security strategy by monitoring and operating security technologies. Acting as a technology specialist within these tools, the IT Security Analyst has a breadth of knowledge in Operational IT concepts and execution affording an understanding of how to properly respond to information produced by the security toolset to protect technology and data assets handled by the MYR Group, Inc family of companies. The Security Analyst operates security technologies in accordance with policy and organizational goals, assists in response to security issues in applications and systems, evaluates, and addresses threats and works with others to execute larger changes in a planned, deliberate manner

Essential Functions

* Support MYR Group's efforts to secure technology and data assets and the business processes supported by both
* Support MYR Group's efforts to operate a secure and available technology environment
* Act as an operator within the MYR Group information security toolset
* Report on operation of MYR Group's security toolset, describing unexpected states and remediating warnings and alerts
* Learn service architectures to assist in identification of critical activities within those services for the purpose of recommending security controls.
* Coordinate with other professionals to assist in vulnerability remediation
* Report new threats based on observations within the security toolset and global threat environment
* Advise on opportunities for secure automation of common tasks throughout IT
* Perform manual review of automation outputs, validating data and critiquing surrounding processes
* Maintain an understanding of emerging threats and threat trends
* Participate in incident response activities including simulations

Qualifications

* Excellent analytical ability, consultative skills, and strong judgment skills
* Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional and multi-disciplinary team environment
* Ability to communicate clearly with tact, brevity, and sensitivity
* Have an inquisitive mind and be self-reliant to investigate issues and leverage resources.
* Moderate understanding of workstations or server management and network fundamentals
* Foundational knowledge understanding of information security concepts such as PKI, access management, log management and similar concepts
* Demonstrated ability to learn and support unfamiliar technologies
* Ability to analyze threats and exposures to provide remediation guidance

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

* Minimum 2 years of experience in an IT role is required
* Experience or knowledge of information security tools is preferred (endpoint protection, DNS filtering, email security, privileged access management, or vulnerability management software)

* High school diploma or GED is required
* Current Security+ or similar certification or ability to attain within 6 months is required

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary $66,000-$80,000 / year
    • Commensurate with experience, paid weekly. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
