Description
The Pediatrician is responsible for: the comprehensive care of patients in the Children's Pediatrician & Associates practices including; appropriate documentation and reporting where required and needed; supervision of assigned clinical and non-clinical staff; and participation in assigned administrative & quality improvement activities and regularly scheduled provider meetings. Two locations include: 3450 Old Washington Road Suite 100, Waldorf, MD 20602 9692 Pennsylvania Avenue, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772
Qualifications
Minimum Education Medical Doctor (M.D.) or Medical Doctor (M.D.) Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Completion of residency program in pediatrics Minimum Work Experience Fully licensed and credentialed attending staff category physician on the medical staff of Children's National Medical Center. Completion of residency in pediatrics. Board eligible or board certification in general pediatrics by American Board of Pediatrics/ or American Osteopathic Association. Required Skills/Knowledge
- Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical evaluation, diagnosis and treatment in the area of expertise.
- Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.
- Ability to function independently in evaluating patient problems and developing a plan for patient care.
- Ability to incorporate ethical concepts into patient care and discuss these with the patient, family, and other members of the health care team.
- Ability to supervise, advise, and train clinical professionals and/or students in area of expertise.
- Ability to maintain quality, safety , and/or infection control standards.
- Demonstration of a personal commitment to Continuing Professional Development and ability to remain current on the developments and progress in primary care pediatrics.
- Knowledge of and compliance with legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.
Functional Accountabilities Commitment to World Class Care
- Perform patient care, including examinations, tests, reports, procedures and other functions accepted as part of the practice of medicine consistent with normally accepted standards of care.
- Perform complete physical examinations of each patient consistent with the normally accepted standard of care in the community including but not limited to, examinations of the patient's head, eyes, ears, nose, throat, abdomen, liver, and spleen, and all systems of the body including but not limited to the circulatory, reproductive and nervous systems.
- Analyze reports and/or findings of tests and personal examinations in order to assess the medical condition of the patient, including diagnosing his/her injury or illness and formulating a prognosis.
- Perform or supervise various invasive medical procedures that include, but are not limited to, the injection of medications, inoculations, and vaccinations.
- Prescribe medication and treatment for the patient and recommending appropriate physical and dietary routines and methods for prevention of disease and personal hygiene.
- Responsible for causing twenty-four (24) hours a day, three hundred sixty-five (365) days per year coverage of patient care needs for the location or locations where the Physician performs clinical services.
- Actively participate in family centered care and communicate in a professional and compassionate manner; refer patients to specialists and to relevant ancillary services as appropriate.
- Refer patients to specialists and to relevant ancillary services as appropriate, and coordinate patient care with consultants and ancillary services.
Documentation and Reporting
- Appropriately document findings, procedures, etc. in the designated electronic medical record.
- Obtain and legibly record in the designated electronic medical record a detailed medical history of each patient, including, but not limited to, the patient's chief complaint, his/her present condition, the patient's individual history , and his/her family history.
- Keep and maintain appropriate records relating to all professional services rendered. Prepare and attend to all reports, claims, and correspondence necessary or appropriate to the performance of the professional services.
- Provide timely reports of births, deaths, outbreaks of contagious diseases and other information required to appropriate governmental authorities and as required for the Company reporting.
Management and Administrative
- Directly supervise nurses and other personnel in accordance with Company's policies, procedures and applicable laws.
- Supervisory responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, interviewing, hiring, and training new assigned staff; assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Participate in the Company governance and management, credentialing and peer review activities; and attending all meetings but not less than 50% of meetings in connection with governance, management, credentialing and peer review, if members of such entities.
- Follow all policies and procedures of the Company and of any managed care organization with which the Company may contract.
- Perform other duties assigned by the Company from time to time that are commensurate with professional services normally and customarily performed by a physician.
Full-Time Salary Range
: 150000 - 450000
