DESCRIPTION OF WORK

An individual in this role engages in semi-skilled tasks independently or provides support to a skilled worker. Additionally, this employee may take on the responsibilities of a lead worker overseeing a small team of manual laborers who carry out routine activities. These activities include general cleaning and maintenance of roads, trails, buildings, tools, equipment, boundary lines, picnic areas, and various recreational projects. The position also involves efforts related to the conservation and protection of forest resources, as well as participation in customer service initiatives. This work is aimed at assisting the Forest Maintenance Supervisor in achieving set objectives and fulfilling the expectations of the Bureau of Forestry and the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR).

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Seasonal full-time employment without benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2025 until November 2025 at which time the employee is placed on leave without pay.
  • Overtime: Overtime may be required in emergency situations such as wildfire suppression
  • Works hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Condition of Employment:
  • This position require possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
