DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will engage in routine maintenance and construction activities within the Tuscarora State Forest. Responsibilities encompass repairing buildings and facilities, utilizing tools from carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and other construction trades for maintenance purposes. You will also operate and assist in the upkeep, care, and cleaning of vehicles and equipment utilized throughout the forest. Additional tasks include constructing simple forms for concrete work with carpentry tools, mixing and placing cement, finishing surfaces with masonry tools, and constructing stone and block walls. Ground maintenance duties involve mowing or trimming grass and weeds with various equipment, cutting firewood, collecting litter, loading and transporting materials in trucks, cleaning grills, sweeping paved areas, digging holes and ditches, and clearing drains and culverts. Furthermore, responsibilities extend to site preparation, seeding and establishing new turf areas, as well as planting and maintaining trees and shrubs, including mowing roadsides and clearing road ditches with a four-wheel drive tractor. - This is a seasonal, full-time position without benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2025 until November 2025 at which the employee is placed on leave without pay.
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Wednesday, 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Thursday, with a 30-minute lunch.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Condition of Employment:
- This position requires possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.
Other Requirements:

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
