Job Posting Title: Director of Business Services---- Hiring Department: Recreational Sports---- Position Open To: All Applicants---- Weekly Scheduled Hours: 40---- FLSA Status: Exempt---- Earliest Start Date: Jan 02, 2025---- Position Duration: Expected to Continue---- Location: UT MAIN CAMPUS---- Job Details: Purpose: Serve in a key leadership role in the department of Recreational Sports, providing administrative oversight for the financial, Human Resources, Information Technology, contracts, and business operations of the department. General Notes: The Director of Business Services provides leadership and ensures the effective management of operational functions to support the strategic goals of Recreational Sports, ensuring compliance with university policies. This role includes overseeing financial planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and internal controls, while fostering a collaborative, service-oriented culture. As a senior leadership team member, the Director contributes to strategic decision-making and advises on financial matters and resource optimization. The Director must be able to manage complex operational challenges and maintain strong relationships across various university stakeholders. Must be eligible to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without sponsorship. Responsibilities:
Required Qualifications Master's degree is required. Five or more years of leadership experience. Proven ability in strategic thinking, sound judgment, and effective planning. Demonstrated commitment to working in and developing teams, with a strong record of fiscal responsibility. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Experience with auxiliary unit budgets. Familiarity with UT Austin's budget and business operations. Knowledge of university policies and financial systems is highly desirable, as well as experience with long-term financial planning and forecasting. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Salary: $120,000 + depending on qualifications Working Conditions and Other Requirements: Continuously maintain and adhere to the department's Vision, Mission and Values, Performance Standards and Communication Credo. Regular and punctual attendance in the workplace required, and work additional hours when required. Frequently work more than 40 hours per week, including weekends, evenings and holidays. This position is designated as an essential worker and may need to report to work, either in-person or remotely, after hours, during UT holidays or emergency closures, and/or while on leave (excluding Family Medical Leave unless permitted to work intermittently). Not all designated essential workers will be required to work during these times, but will work as assigned/required by the supervisor. Comply with departmental and university policies and procedures, and all other university and system rules and regulations. Security sensitive position. Position is a Campus Security Authority pursuant to the Clery Act and University policy, and a Responsible Employee pursuant to Title IX and University policy. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation, use of manual dexterity, climbing of stairs, lifting and moving, exposure to alarms, fumes, large crowds, microwave emissions, noise and windowless work area. May work around chemical fumes, and around standard office conditions. Occasional outdoor activity and exposure to all weather conditions. Continuously work as a team member, independently, and work under stress. Maintain ability to interact cooperatively with staff and participants, communicate effectively both in written and verbal form, be flexible, be supervised, adhere to university policies and procedures, organize time and documents effectively, perform multiple tasks, function capably in a complex organizational structure with fast-paced working conditions. Ability to provide leadership, supervise others, and delegate tasks, make independent judgments, maintain confidentiality, maintain professional demeanor, and maintain knowledge required to perform professional duties.
