Why Co-Op With Us? A successful Co-op will be able to recognize safety, quality, and productivity risks in logistics and manufacturing practices and will play an active role in designing processes for their elimination. Experienced, effective Co-ops will hone their data collection and analysis skills and will learn to leverage trends in data to make recommendations and design solutions for improving safety, maximizing efficiency, and driving down costs.
What is the Criteria for a McKenney's Co-Op? Candidates must be able to complete 3 full-time co-op rotations in Atlanta prior to their graduation.Students must be enrolled in a co-op program at an accredited engineering school majoring in Mechanical, Civil, or IndustrialEngineering,or Construction Management.
Responsibilities
- Work in a collaborative team environment with both full-time employees and other co-ops under the leadership of managers of the L&M Group.
- Participate in cross-functional teams assisting project managers and foremen in developing unique solutions to ensure proper procurement and delivery of product from our shops, vendors, and warehouses to project sites.
- Work with our Shop Superintendents to understand current processes and identify and minimize waste by applying LEAN principles.
- Analyze current and historical data to recognize trends and prioritize process improvement projects that will have the greatest impact on the business.
- Tailor communications to and support individuals throughout the hierarchy of the business. Audience for this communication will range from front-line workers to company executives.

- Ability to effectively communicate across a diverse group of people (Project Managers, Draftsman,Field Staff, Fabrication Shops, Company Executives, etc.)
Working Conditions and Physical Efforts
- Work involves moderate exposure to elements, such as hot/cold temperatures, dirt, dust, and/or loud noiseswhen visiting jobsites.
- Work environment involves some exposure to construction-related hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions.
- Light physical effort. Requires handling average-weight objects up to 25 pounds and some standing or walking.
- Work requires local and occasional out-of-town travel to job sites and customer locations.
