In this position, you will plan and facilitate therapeutic recreation and leisure activities for all residents in the living unit, ensuring these activities align with everyone's treatment plan. You will collaborate with unit staff to ensure that the recreation and leisure needs of those served are met in a structured and effective manner, with activities tailored to everyone's functional abilities and needs. You will create individualized program plans based on data that reflects the recreational needs of each person, outlining specific objectives and training methods to achieve their habilitation goals in recreation. Additionally, you will coordinate and schedule activities by working with staff to plan the details of each event, ensuring individuals can gain maximum benefit from their scheduled time. In implementing these activities, you will engage with residents both individually and in groups, following the program plans as outlined, encouraging participation, and offering support to help everyone fully engage and benefit from the recreational and leisure opportunities provided.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • You will have weekends and holidays off.
• Travel and overtime: As needed
• May change based on operational needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Four years of experience providing therapeutic activities for individuals with physical, medical, or cognitive disabilities; or
• A bachelor's degree with major coursework in therapeutic recreation; physical education; vocational rehabilitation; vocational education or counseling; art, music, dance, or occupational therapies; or a related human services field; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.

• A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination, drug screening.
• This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
