Responsibilities

University Behavioral Center, a subsidiary of Universal Health Services, Inc. (UHS), is committed to providing intensive mental health services to children, adolescents and adults as well as detox and substance abuse programs for adults. Our mental health facility provides safe and effective inpatient treatment to assist individuals in leading more productive and fulfilling lives.

Job Summary:

Working for a 112 bed Behavioral Health hospital we are looking for an Inpatient Hospital Collections Representative. Must have a strong understanding of medical/behavioral claims processes including claim appeal procedures. Prefer 5yrs minimum experience. Must be able to work in a "fast" paced office setting spending 75-80% of the time on phones with insurance payers. You will utilize various communication channels including phone calls, emails, insurance websites and letters to resolve account balances.

Must have knowledge of explanation of benefits and coordination of benefits process, primary and secondary insurance responsibilities and able to calculate contract rates for correct reimbursement.

This is NOT a remote position. The ideal candidate must be able to adhere to the following schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:30am-6pm

Essential functions:

  • Review insurance payments for accuracy and compliance with contract discounts
  • Review denials or partially paid claims and work with the involved parties to resolve the discrepancy
  • Write and submit appeals
  • Review and process insurance correspondence
  • Communicate with health care providers and insurance claim representatives to facilitate timely payment
  • Provide excellent and professional customer service to internal and external customers
  • Function as a contributing team member while meeting deadlines and productivity and quality standards
  • Work with the team to achieve daily, weekly and monthly deadlines

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma. Some College or Associates Degree Preferred
  • Current experience in medical/behavioral billing field
  • Ability to understand medical terminology
  • Understanding of Revenue codes, CPT and ICD-10 codes
  • Knowledge of health insurance
  • Ability to understand and research medical claims, payments, and EOBs
  • Experience in "MEDICAL" claim denials and adjustments
  • Good communication skills: written and verbal
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Team player
