  • POSITION SUMMARY



    • A Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) is a highly skilled advanced practice registered nurse specializing in the administration of anesthesia and the provision of anesthesia care across a variety of surgical and procedural settings. This role involves conducting pre-anesthetic assessments, developing individualized anesthesia care plans, and monitoring patients throughout the surgical process to ensure optimal safety and comfort.

      Key responsibilities include collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver comprehensive patient care. Administering various types of anesthesia, including general, regional, and local anesthesia. Monitoring patients' vital signs and anesthetic levels during procedures, adjusting anesthesia as necessary. Providing post-anesthesia care and assessing patients for any complications or side effects. Educating patients and their families about anesthesia procedures and recovery processes.

      A Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) must demonstrate exceptional clinical judgment, possess strong communication skills, and effectively navigate high-pressure environments, all while maintaining the highest standards of patient safety and care.





  • POSITION QUALIFICATIONS



    • Education and Experience:



      • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Graduate of a nurse anesthesia education program accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs or its predecessor.




    • License/Certificates:



      • RN License to practice in the State of Minnesota and complies with any applicable state statutory or regulatory requirements concerning the advanced practice of nursing.


      • Complies with one of the following requirements regarding certification

        eligibility, initial certification or recertification:



        • Meets criteria of Education and Certificates as stated above, and is waiting initial certification; or


        • Is currently certified by the AANA Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists or its predecessor; or


        • Is currently recertified by the AANA Council on Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists.


        • Insurable by an appropriate medical malpractice insurer for the limits required.




      • Current member of AANA and MANA




    • Special Skills and Aptitudes:



      • Knowledge of nursing principles, practices and techniques gained through a variety of nursing experience.


      • Completion of specific education programs as recommended by the director.


      • Exemplifies self-direction with good organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.


      • Follows scope of practice and guidelines of AANA


      • Knowledge and compliance of state and federal accrediting agencies.






  • ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES



    • Exercise concern for the patient's welfare above all else.


    • Demonstrates resourcefulness in emergency situations.


    • Practices and maintains high ethical standards including resident/patient confidentiality.


    • Maintains knowledge of the patient's condition at all times during the anesthetic.


    • Recognizes and interprets symptoms, plans and initiates anesthetic intervents.


    • Performs duties in accordance with the Medical Center's policies, methods, and techniques, and by cooperating with other departments and Medical Center personnel.


    • Administers medication to patients; performs various techniques of anesthesia.


    • Maintains accurate and complete anesthesia records.


    • Remains up-to-date on new anesthesia skills, technology, and requirements in the changing health care environment.


    • Demonstrate Committment Standards when other duties are assigned.


    • Clinical Lead of Anesthesia:




      • Responsible to the Director of the Department of Anesthesia.


      • Daily scheduling and coordination of clinical assignments.


      • Maintain call schedule.


      • Arrange LoCum coverage due to PTO or educational meetings in a fiscal manner.


      • Assist Director of the Department of Anesthesia with departmental projects.


      • Attend committee meetings assigned by the Director of the Department of Anesthesia.


      • Assist the department with ongoing QI initiatives.


      • Assist with credentialing of new CRNAs.


      • Responsible for the orientation of new CRNAs.


      • Assure prescriptive agreements are maintained and current.


      • Work with Anesthesia Technologist to manage supply needs in a fiscal manner.


      • Serve as a clinical resource to the surgical services unit in conjunction with Director of the Department of Anesthesia.







Starting salary range is 228,602-254,002.
