DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Forest Technician with the DCNR Resource Planning & Information Division, you will play a vital role in forest management, pest control, and nursery culture. In this dynamic position, you will work closely with the forester crew leader in the Fulton county forest inventory region, expertly following established sampling protocols outlined in the field manuals from the Resource Inventory and Monitoring Section. Your essential data collection will enable us to effectively monitor our state forest lands' condition, growth, and health.
Furthermore, as required, you will actively support various program areas within the Bureau of Forestry, demonstrating your expertise in forest health, management, ecological services, and fire protection. Your contributions will be instrumental in advancing our mission to safeguard and enhance our forest resources. Interested in learning more? - Seasonal full-time employment without benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2025 until November 2025 at which time the employee is placed on leave without pay.
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday, Tuesday, & Wednesday; 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM Thursday; Off Friday.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- An associate's degree in forest technology; or
- Completion of equivalent formal education in forestry.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 6 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
Condition of Employment:
- You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
