Someone in this role would typically have at least 5 years of experience in leading quality assurance functions and deliverables in a manufacturing facility within the context of a Quality Management System set up to meet and comply with AS9100D and/or ISO9001-2015.

Duties & Responsibilities

SOME OF YOUR MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

* As the Quality Assurance Supervisor, perform direct supervision of OSS Quality Assurance Inspection personnel. Perform hiring, training, assigning tasks, monitoring, evaluating performance, and other supervisory tasks to ensure Quality Assurance Inspectors meet OSS inspection needs for current and upcoming projects. Be accountable for Quality Assurance Inspection performance, motivating employee personnel to conform to QMS procedures and Work Authorizing Documents to perform and produce defect free products and documents to the best of their ability. Champion cohesive teamwork among employees.
* Manage the day-to-day functions of Quality Assurance Inspection by maintaining daily liaison with Manufacturing, Production Control and other internal customers to ensure all inspection stations are appropriately assigned and covered. Keep Product Assurance Manager notified of day-to-day issues and resolution.
* Manage the training and skills of OSS inspectors and ensure appropriate cross training to maximize individual's growth opportunities as well as coverage flexibility to reduce resource constraints.
* Maintain OSS Acceptance and Reject Stamp register and issue the annual Stamp Memo. Conduct annual Stamp warranty training and perform the annual Stamp audit and maintain records.
* Manage OSS metrology department, ensure adequate staffing, and ensure Measuring/Test Equipment is maintained and calibrated per QMS procedures and NASA JSC policies. Assess the need for new measuring equipment to ensure continuous coverage of OSS projects. Perform liaison with NASA MSCL to ensure metrology recall of calibrated items is updated in MONRS in a timely fashion.
* Manage the availability and calibration status of critical equipment with proactive planning to ensure resource availability that support project schedules.
* Ensure support for workmanship training (OSS Inspectors and Techs) and records maintained. Assess current training profiles for Inspectors and allocate new training to cover current and upcoming projects, with needed backups.
* Support proposals and pricing when requested to ensure adequate assignment of hours to cover inspection needs while seeking opportunities to reduce cost based on lessons learned and continuous improvement.
* Ensure all inspection personnel are working in safe working conditions and being compliant to OSS QMS procedures, JSEAs and HAs.
* Maintain a supportive and collaborative relationship with in-house government source inspection DCMA personnel.
* Support certain Quality Engineering tasks when assigned by Product Assurance Manager to ensure smooth constraint free operations.
* Other duties as assigned by the Product Assurance Manager.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

* Minimum 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control, with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory capacity.
* Familiarity with manufacturing products in an AS9100D and/or ISO9001 QMS environment.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to liaise cross functionally, internally and externally, make presentations to team members and management.
* Experience with root cause analysis tools and corrective action processes.
* U.S. Citizenship.

PREFERRED

* Bachelor's degree in engineering or manufacturing discipline.
* Experience reading engineering drawings, including ability to interpret Geometric Dimension and Tolerance (GD&T) and offer guidance for CMM inspection.
* Familiarity with NASA (or other major aerospace contractor) human space flight certification and approval processes.
* Exposure to NASA workmanship standards (NASA-STD-8739.1, NASA-STD-8739.2, NASA-STD-8739.3 and NASA-STD-8739.4) and IPC workmanship standards (e.g. IPC-J-STD-001).
* Familiarity with inspection tools such as CMMs, FARO ARM, Height Gage, etc.
