POSITION DETAILS

Position Summary

As part of the Pumps Americas Senior Leadership Team, the Director of Engineering is responsible for the technical design of all products and will provide leadership and management to the Engineering Team. This role is responsible for technology development to ensure our products continue as market leaders for flow motion and control in mission critical applications.

This role will report directly to the VP/GM and will collaborate with other departments (Business Development, Sales, Operations, Finance, etc.) in pursuit of CIRCOR's growth and profitability objectives.

Principal Activities


  • Develop and maintain clear strategic technology roadmaps to ensure our products remain in the position of technical leadership in the markets we serve.
  • Design and develop new products to resolve end user's challenges in the field based upon Voice of the Customer input.
  • Review new business opportunities for technical suitability and risk. Ensure cost effective and manufacturable designs.
  • Provide sustaining engineering for existing products.
  • Manage the department resources and workload allocation. Conduct continuous talent evaluations and drive employee engagement through open communications and professional development of the Engineering Team.
  • Ensure products comply with relevant industry regulations and certifications.
  • Prepare and manage the Engineering departmental annual budget.
  • Improve engineering tools and processes in collaboration with both Pumps Americas' sites.


Job Requirements:

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities


  • Strong knowledge of positive displacement pumps and pumping systems.
    Knowledge of 3-screw and precision gear pumps is strongly preferred.
    Knowledge of centrifugal pumps is a plus/optional.
  • Minimum seven (7) years of engineering management experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply appropriate analytical tools and problem-solving techniques to resolve difficult technical challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver new products.
  • Solid financial acumen to understand the impact of technical decisions on the financial health of the products and business
  • Ability to team with other functional leaders to achieve business objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot technical problems and effectively handle challenging customer relationships.
  • Ability to effectively plan, direct, and coordinate activities across functional teams and departments
  • Strong planning and project management skills.
  • Action oriented with drive to measure performance and deliver results.
  • Ability to lead others, delegate appropriately, and ensure execution
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to present views or recommendations in a clear and compelling manner
  • Solution-driven thinking using a mixture of analysis, experience, and judgment.
  • Intellectually curious.

Education/Certifications


  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering required
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred.
