Summary: Under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator and within established policies and procedures performs multi-color flow cytometry in a research laboratory. Work together with the laboratory Director to advise investigators regarding experimental design and data analysis. Other information: BASIC KNOWLEDGE: Ph.D. Degree in Immunology Biology Biochemistry or a related discipline required. Specialized training (theoretical and practical) in the application and conduct of flow cytometry practices. EXPERIENCE: Requires a minimum 10 years of experience operating and maintaining BD LSRII flow analyzer. Demonstrated experience in multi-color flow cytometry and expertise in acquiring and analyzing data from LSRII flow cytometry platform using specialized analysis software. Proficiency in the use of FACS Diva software and FloJo flow analysis software. Proficient in fluorophore selection histogram gating and back-gating and fluorophore compensation analysis. Proficient knowledge of immunology genetics and flow cytometry. Proficiency with Macintosh and PC computers and handheld devices. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Able to work safely in a BSL2 environment. Able to work safely with lasers and high-voltage equipment. Able to work independently. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None.
