Basic function

We are seeking a passionate individual who can pair analytical mindset with strategic execution to deliver the commercial forecast of our Local Accounts (including Sephora, Ulta, Amazon, Sally Beauty Supply). As a business planner, you will be responsible for the construction of the sales forecast for your assigned customer(s), operating as a liaison between key cross functional stakeholders (including but not limited to: heads of Marketing, Demand Planning, Customer Supply Chain, Sales and Finance).

You will be instrumental in driving the forecasting process by collaborating with the account lead to challenge and strategize the long-term forecast, identifying risks and opportunities, and taking full ownership of the unit forecast for launches, key promotions, and ongoing flow business. You will represent the customer voice within the monthly business planning cycle and provide key insights into your forecast to senior management.

Responsibilities:

Own the Customer Sales Forecast

  • Construct a comprehensive customer forecast (sell in and out - base, promo and launch) in collaboration with the Key Account Managers and Customer Supply Chain teams.
  • Understand the key drivers and building blocks of the forecast, including sell out and sell in ambition. Document, assess and communicate key risks and ops at customer level that impact both short term turnover management (M -> M+2) and long term business plan execution.
  • Take ownership of the volume forecast and be able to understand, discuss and challenge the intricacies of the value sales forecast.
  • Capture SIT impact to sales forecast, reflect cannibalization & seasonality trends.
  • Build a promo library and consolidate the promo plan.
  • Manage the forecast in our business planning tool, with some data entry required

Coordinate the Monthly Business Planning Cycle

  • Lead the account Business Planning Cycle, including monthly validation of the forecast with the Customer Business Manager.
  • Collaborate with the account team to align on monthly forecasting goals, tasks & deadlines.
  • Develop a framework and cadence for consistent and insightful reporting to help anticipate risks and opportunities across brands and channels.
  • Carry out monthly KPI & M-1 Review, as well as quarterly diagnosis of Trend evolution and key drivers and drainers.

Coordinate the Annual Business Planning Process

  • Ensure all stakeholders are aligned to key deadlines and tasks.
  • Support and challenge the development of the budget forecast construction.

Drive Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Foster multi-functional collaboration and alignment between the Commercial team and cross functional partners (Including Demand Planning, Marketing, Finance, Operations) to build and maintain the forecast.

Track Weekly Sales Turnover

  • In month tracking of consolidated net sales versus forecast and weekly reporting of any key changes in the short-term (3 month) horizon.

  • Ability to step out of the detail and see a holistic view of the business
  • Advanced presentation and communication skills with the ability to engage and positively influence key stakeholders at a senior level
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to set priorities and meet deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
  • Ability to be flexible and work under pressure, challenges the status-quo
  • Enjoys collaborating with others and can develop strong internal/external relationships
  • Performs tasks with high level of detail. Ability to come up with innovative solutions
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel

Experience:

  • 5 years + commercial financial, business or sales planning experience
  • Experience working with business planning tools and creating/analyzing business planning models
  • Proficiency with business planning cadences and best practices
  • Experience with intricate corporate structures with multiple key stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail for accuracy with the ability to multitask
  • Demonstrated track record of exceptional planning, reporting and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to manage complicated relationships
  • Advanced computer skills (Excel, Excel Pivot Tables, SAP Analyzer & Power BI)
  • 4-year College degree/professional experience
