Position Summary

EBI is seeking a detailed oriented, self-motivated Accounting Manager who is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, and the timely preparation of financial statements. This role involves managing the accounting team and related processes, monitoring financial transactions, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations.

This position reports directly to the VP of Finance and will be an in-office role, with the expectation of 5 days per week on-site in our Burlington, MA corporate headquarters. Therefore, candidates will need to be geographically close to Burlington, MA and comfortable working in an office environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Accounting Operations:


    • Direct management and oversight of the accounts payable, client billings, payroll, time and expense, cash application and monthly close processes ensuring accuracy and timeliness
    • Ownership of monthly revenue calculations to ensure accurate revenue that has been appropriately reviewed and approved by finance and operations teams
    • Ownership of the monthly credit card coding, review and approval process
    • Maintenance of the general ledger to ensure all transactions are recorded completely, accurately, and timely


  • Team Management:


    • Manage, mentor, train and develop team members, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes professional development
    • Delegate tasks effectively and ensure deadlines are met
    • Conduct performance reviews and provide guidance for professional development


  • Financial Reporting:


    • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, equity statement, cash flow, etc.)
    • Ensure accurate and timely financial close processes leading to accurate and timely reporting
    • Assist in preparation of financial reports for senior management and owners
    • Provide support for business initiatives by preparing reports on profitability, costs, and returns
    • Ad hoc reporting as needed


  • Process Improvement:


    • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes, improve accuracy, and reduce costs
    • Implement best practices for accounting operations and financial reporting
    • Lead system change processes for accounting software and tools


  • Relations:


    • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors and partners to EBI


  • Controls and Compliance:


    • Develop and implement internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial data
    • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and accounting standards
    • Prepare for external audits, external valuation and external tax and liaise with service providers to ensure compliance with regulations and accurate and timely reporting and filing


  • Collaboration:


    • Work closely with sales, operations, and other corporate departments to enhance efficiency and transparency


  • Other Projects:


    • Perform other accounting/finance related projects and activities as requested by management




Qualifications and Capabilities



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team, manage multiple priorities, and resolve conflicts
  • CPA (Certified Public Accountant) strongly preferred
  • Experience with professional services companies
  • Experience working in NetSuite, Salesforce and/or Certinia/Financial Force preferred
  • Experience within Telecom and Real Estate industries preferred
  • Experience w/Government billing processes preferred
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and critically
