Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Provide leadership within the Geosyntec dams, levees, and hydraulic structures practice.
  • Serve as a mentor for technical staff and assist with staff development and recruiting to grow the firm's capabilities.
  • Participate in business development activities such as contributing to business plans, meetings with and presentations to clients, proposal preparation, and participation in professional organizations and activities.
  • Provide technical leadership, direction, and oversight for projects, including such activities as:
    • Dam safety inspections and engineering assessments of dams and their appurtenances;
    • Analyses and evaluations of dams and appurtenances (e.g., stability) in accordance with industry standards (e.g., USACE);
    • Analysis and design of rehabilitation schemes for dams and appurtenances;
    • Instrumentation and monitoring of dams and related structures;
    • Potential failure modes analysis and risk analysis;
    • Value engineering, design review, and constructability review; and
    • Engineering during construction and construction quality control/assurance for dam modification projects.
  • Project/task management and proposal preparation management and support.
  • Preparation of and team leadership for preparation of engineering reports, calculations, design drawings and specifications, and other technical and professional documents.
  • Fieldwork associated with evaluation, investigation, design, and/or construction services.


Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related field. (required)
  • Advanced degree in civil engineering or a related field. (preferred)
  • Professional registration (i.e., P.E.). (required)


Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 15 years directly relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Knowledge of relevant standards of practice for dams and/or levees. (required)
  • Knowledge of dam safety risk framework and risk processes for dams. (required)
  • Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)

This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec's total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.

  • Minimum Salary: $165,645/year / Maximum Salary: $248,470 /year (Davis & Sacramento, CA)
