SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

The Business Development Representative is responsible for executing the sales and marketing objectives for Phoenix's Largo office, specifically commercial subsea unmanned operations and engineering services. In addition, this person must maintain a broad view of the full spectrum of Phoenix's capabilities (diving, underwater ship husbandry, ADS, welding and NDT, etc.) to ensure opportunities associated with those capabilities are fully considered and acted upon. This person achieves specified sales objectives that support business unit revenue and profitability goals. This position is located in Largo, MD and reports to the Largo Business Development Manager.

CLASSIFICATION: Exempt (salaried)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sales and Marketing:

  • Focuses sales efforts on promoting the Phoenix Largo office's capabilities in the area of commercial unmanned operations and engineering services to maximize utilization of Phoenix assets and resources.
  • Maintains a broad view of the full spectrum of Phoenix's capabilities (beyond Largo) to ensure opportunities associated with those capabilities are fully considered and acted upon.
  • Develops quotes and proposals in response to RFQs and RFPs and develops bid/no bid checklists.
  • Conducts "bid/no bid" assessments, including risk analysis for all prospective opportunities.
  • Obtains firsthand information on current conditions in the market to increase Phoenix's market share with key/target accounts or the total territory.
  • Identifies new services lines and areas for expansion and refines the strategic plan to ensure it remains realistic in a changing market.
  • Promotes and represents Phoenix at Largo targeted industry conferences.

Client Development:

  • Obtains and reports feedback on our operational performance and stays abreast of industry developments and trends.
  • Cultivates, builds, and maintains relationships with assigned clients via personal visits, phone calls, or other appropriate communication channels.
  • Assists Phoenix Largo operations in client communications as needed.
  • Prepares and delivers Phoenix capability and technology presentations to current and prospective clients.

Internal Responsibilities:

  • Participates in regular Phoenix corporate sales staff teleconferences to review the status of ongoing company sales and marketing efforts.
  • In support of Largo requirements, coordinates the development of marketing materials, brochures, and presentations that promote the Phoenix brand to the market.
  • Ensures all Largo related marketing materials and relevant portions of the website present a coherent message consistent with the company's strategic plan.
  • Works with various Largo management and operations personnel to identify, develop, and publish technical papers and press releases.
  • Provides weekly and monthly status reports to the Largo General Manager.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum two years of experience in underwater systems operation and engineering desired. Undergraduate degree in marketing or business desirable.
  • Minimum two years of subsea operations and related engineering, including experience with diving, ADS, ROVs, and AUVs.
  • Excellent organization and communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • Excellent computer skills with competence in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Self-driven and goal oriented individual with a clear focus on corporate image and client responsiveness.
  • Mature, credible, and comfortable in dealing with others.
  • Consistent professional appearance.
  • A valid state driver's license and good driving record.
  • Ability to undertake significant local travel to current and potential clients.
  • Periodic overnight travel or weekend and evening work.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and physical, as required.
