SUMMARY:
The BioMarin Summer Internship Program will enable students to gain valuable experience and knowledge of the processes and systems within BioMarin, while gaining an insight into the pharmaceutical/biotech industry. Over the course of 10 - 12 weeks our interns gain industry experience while working alongside our talented team on meaningful projects.
The Customer Facing Information Technology (CFIT) team is an enabling function that partners with business to determine technology strategy and select technology investments that drive efficient, data driven ways of working at BioMarin. CFIT is responsible for the implementation and operation of business technology solutions. Guiding the business to successfully incorporate technology into their ways of working is central to success.
JOB DESCRIPTION/PROJECT:
  • BioMarin has made Artificial Intelligence (AI) part of its technology strategy with 2025 objectives of (1) Raise Daily Employee Productivity (2) AI Assisted Business Processes (3) AI Improves Business Outcomes.
  • This position will lead campaigns that incorporate AI into everyday ways of working at BioMarin
  • Identify/select ways of working that can be improved by using pre-trained AI models, establish success measures, and develop/run marketing campaigns that inspire users to adopt AI assisted ways of working.
  • Will focus on quick win, low complexity and low code technical solutions. Strong emphasis on organizational change management.
Required Skills:
  • Developing and running technology Marketing Campaigns. Defining metrics and KPIs that measure User Engagement, communicating Value Proposition, and creating engaging content that inspires users through multiple channels.
  • Creating and delivering technology demos and training
  • Experience working with public Large Language Models (LLMs). Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, etc as an end user
  • Prompt Engineering
  • Defining a task plan to achieve an objective and managing other team members to plan.
  • Communication - Introducing new technology to a non-technical audience in a fun and engaging way.
  • Career aspirations in Technology Marketing or Technology Product Management
Desired Skills:
  • Ability to assess technical feasibility and data sufficiency for AI Use Cases
  • Familiarity with Microsoft's Power Automate
  • Experience with Microsoft Copilot stack and Azure Open AI
  • Building Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) AI solutions
  • Data Engineering
Qualifications/Eligibility:
  • Pursuing Bachelor's or Master's with course work including Technology Marketing and/or Technology Product Management.
  • Both Marketing and Engineering degrees will be considered.
  • Must be available to work full-time, 40 hours a week.
  • Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. based university or college and enrolled in the fall term after the completion of the internship OR have graduated within 1 year of the start of the program.
  • Must be able to relocate if necessary and work at the designated site for the duration of the internship for on-site, hybrid roles. Some positions will be open to remote interns, but employee must be within United States borders.

In the U.S., the salary range for this position is $21 to $30 per hour, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
