Summary Prepares, performs, and analyzes actuarial research and audits to include pricing, reserving, profitability analysis, modeling, and other actuarial analysis as required by management, regulators, and industry associations. Description

Performs profitability analysis/determination of appropriate level and rates for Small Group and Individual various lines of business, including Medicare Supplement and ACA policies. Reviews rating bureau changes, making premium comparisons with competing companies. Adjusts prior company experience to reflect future contingent liabilities for purpose of pricing a revision to an existing product or rate level.

Correctly prepares/documents rate filings and other submissions to state regulatory authorities. Files rate, rule, and form revisions along with annual required filings. Complies with special requests for financial and insurance data by state insurance departments. Provides input to state insurance departments on proposed legislation.

Accurately determines bulk loss and loss expense reserves for reported and unreported liabilities. Establishes review of various methodologies used to promulgate these reserves as well as provides both written and oral support of carried reserves to regulators, independent actuaries and auditors, and other examiners.

Participates in financial planning, evaluation of reinsurance needs and production of management reports.

Required Education: Bachelor's in a job related field

Specialized Training: Successful completion of 5 Society of Actuaries or Casualty Actuarial Society exams. Each additional exam completed may substitute one year of required work experience (prerequisites excluded).

Required Work Experience: 3 Years Actuarial science field experience.

Required Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of actuarial principles, procedures, and regulations. Advanced mathematical and analytical skills. Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to effectively prioritize.

Required Software and Tools: Microsoft Office.

Required License and Certificate: Actively progressing toward designation of Associate of Casualty Actuarial Society or the Society of Actuaries.
