A Postdoctoral Associate position is available in the Matikainen-Ankney Lab within the Behavioral and Systems Neuroscience area of the Psychology Department at Rutgers University in Piscataway, New Jersey. This is a full-time position for a scientist with a background and interest in working with ex vivo whole cell patch clamp physiological recordings in rodent models. The position will involve conducting experiments, analyzing data, and writing manuscripts.

The Postdoctoral Associate will be encouraged to submit a training grant during their first year (e.g., NIH F32, AHA Postdoctoral Fellowship).
The Matikainen-Ankney lab is part of the Behavioral and Systems Neuroscience area within the Department of Psychology and is embedded within the larger neuroscience community at Rutgers, comprising more than 300 research labs. Collaboration is encouraged, along with multi-lab meetings and retreats.The candidate will drive experiments investigating neural circuits underlying motivated behaviors.
Responsibilities include:
* Conduct ex vivo patch clamp recordings in acute brain slices
* Data analysis and visualization
* Manuscript preparation

Minimum Education and Experience
Candidate must have a PhD in Psychology, Neuroscience, or a related field before the start date.

* First-hand experience with electrophysiological experiments and data acquisition

* Strong grasp of synaptic physiology
