Manages, coordinates, and evaluates all elements of financial, material and human resources in the provision of ECMO care to assigned group of patients in accordance with the service and missions of the institution.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Current license to practice Registered Professional Nursing in West VirginiaOR; Current license to practice as a Registered Respiratory Therapist in West Virginia 2. Obtain certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date. EXPERIENCE: 1. Five (5) years' experience in applicable disciplinewith1.5 years (18 months) of ECMO experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or other related field. 2. ELSO certification CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Manages personnel to ensure appropriately credentialed, clinically competent, well-developed cohesive workforce to meet patient care needs. 2. Assist the Director/Manager on the hiring, retention, interviewing and recruitment of staff. 3. Coordinates and oversees staff responsibilities including data collection, equipment ordering, educational events, etc. 4. Performs on-going written goal setting, peer review, and performance reviews according to hospital policy. 5. Provides ongoing feedback, coaches and counsels employees on attendance and job performance under the direction of the Director/Manager. 6. Collaborates with the Charge employees in Nursing, Respiratory and Pediatrics regarding staffing needs, looping in SLC and House Supervisors when appropriate. 7. Attends/leads weekly ECMO touchbase meetings, monthly ECMO staff meeting, CUSP meetings, budget meetings, HVI quality meetings, quarterly ECMO working group meetings. 8. Assures the most economical utilization of time, materials and resources through the review of equipment and staffing patterns. 9. Maintains effective communication with multidisciplinary team and other departments to effectively communicate updates/changes quality initiatives. 10. Rounds weekly on each ECMO patient and families, addressing patient/family satisfaction, initiating service recovering if necessary. 11. Effectively supports the ECMO team on the off-shifts, supporting the goals and the mission of the organization. 12. Adherence to all standards and policies set forth by WVUH and the accrediting bodies for the purposes of licensure, regulation and accreditation. 13. Adherence of the standards of behavior and hospital policies set forth by WVUH. 14. Assists Director/Manager in timely follow-up of safety reports. 15. In conjunction with the ECMO Coordinator, facilitates the professional development of personnel by providing opportunities to attend seminars, conferences, in-services. 16. Oversees and participates in the orientation, training, and continuing education of the staff (departmental and interdepartmental) and other health related personnel ie. APP bootcamps, wet labs. 17. Directs and monitors the instruction, supervision, and evaluation of students and orientees. 18. Participates in self-development activities such as seminars, workshops, classes, conferences and literature review. 19. Participates in outreach activities in the community, i.e. Heart Walk, ECMO Support Group meetings, to expand horizons and promote good relationships.
