HVAC Mechanic

Job Summary:
The HVAC Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, and operating heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems to ensure a safe, comfortable, and efficient environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance and inspections on HVAC systems, including chillers, boilers, air handling units, and cooling towers.
Troubleshoot and repair HVAC system issues to minimize downtime and maintain optimal performance.
Monitor and adjust controls to ensure appropriate temperature and humidity levels throughout the facility.
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and hospital standards in all HVAC operations.
Collaborate with maintenance staff on facility-wide projects and initiatives.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in HVAC systems preferred.
Experience with HVAC maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
Strong understanding of temperature and humidity control systems.
Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance standards.
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience with HVAC, and a preference that this experience be in a hospital or healthcare facility.
  • A valid Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Public Safety, Refrigeration Technician License.
  • A minimum of a high school education is required.
  • Ability to read and write in English to effectively communicate with staff, vendors, patients, and visitors.
  • Troubleshooting skills must demonstrate sharp attention to detail and focus on projects at hand. He/she must understand the implications of maintaining a safe and reliable HVAC system in support of quality patient care.
  • The HVAC Mechanic is a very active, physical, hands-on position. The HVAC Mechanic must be capable of lifting 75 pounds from a ground elevation to a shoulder height elevation.
  • While the majority of time will be spent inside the Hospital or any other building on the Hospital campus, the HVAC Mechanic can be required to work outdoors at any time during the year, including, but not limited to, rain, wind, snow, ice, sleet, hail, and pollen season.
