This role partners closely with business and functional leadership and centers of excellence to develop HR strategy, drive change and coach leadership in order to attain the organization's objectives and to align its resourcing requirements.

The day-to-day

  • Lead with Strategy: Collaborate with leaders to translate business plans into data-driven people strategies and organizational capability that boost engagement and talent development into results.
  • Champion Employees: Advocate for employees while balancing their needs with business objectives and contribute to creating an organizational structure that supports retention.
  • Solve Complex Challenges: Dig deep to uncover the root cause of business and people issues and suggest solutions that support that align with and support strategic business objectives.
  • Build Trust Through Data: Use your business acumen to analyze data, make informed decisions, and present compelling insights that influence action.
  • Cultivate Collaboration: Role model HR best practices, establish credibility and trust to build strong relationships with leaders, and drive innovation through cross-functional partnerships.

  • Set Clear Goals and Expectations: Clearly define the team's objectives, outlining success metrics and deadlines. Ensure everyone understands their roles and how they contribute to the overall goal.
  • Provide Support and Resources: Supports the organization through transformation activities and integration efforts. Develops and drives company-wide programs and initiatives (e.g., reward cycles, employee engagement efforts, workforce planning, and organizational change). Identify any roadblocks the team faces and offer solutions or resources to overcome them.
  • Motivate and Inspire: Recognize and celebrate achievements, both big and small. Foster a positive and collaborative work environment that keeps the team engaged.
  • Job Complexity: This role requires strategic partnership, guiding multiple teams and collaborating with leaders on impactful initiatives aligned with the organization's vision. What you'll need

  • A bachelor's degree/diploma (or equivalent experience) is required, with 5 years of experience in the HR field, ideally prior Business Partner/HR Generalist experience. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Knowledge of federal and state labor laws.
  • Data-driven with the ability to analyze data, understand trends, and develop recommendations for action through a personal initiative for problem-solving.
  • Solid understanding of all HR functions. Experience of building trust and partnership with leaders across the globe, becoming a virtual champion for their HR needs, in addition serving as the global P&C business partner to facilitate core HR processes.
  • Excellent communication skills, written, verbal, and interpersonal to include coaching, training, change management, influence, and delivering compelling presentations.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive and effective relationships at all levels.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are key.
  • Ability to challenge confidently while maintaining credible relationships, as well as handling a range of difficult conversations and situations.
  • Experience leading and influencing organizational design and effectiveness using design thinking; fostering effective change management planning.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and value collaborative teamwork.
  • Project management skills and evidence of leading a people related project from start to finish.
  • Team player, comfortable working in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment.
  • Keen interest in our business and ability to learn quickly
  • Proficiency in MS Office and HRIS applications (Workday preferred)

What will help you on the job

  • Prior experience with M&A integration is a plus
  • Experience supporting a Finance or Marketing organization is a plus
  • Prior experience working with a global workforce

Salary range

$111,000.00 - $158,000.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $132,000.00- $179,000.00/ annually

At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience. Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
