Responsibilities Job Summary The Assistant Director, of Clinical Research Operations oversees the research coordination aspects of clinical operations supporting the clinical research enterprise at HRI including clinical research coordination, research data coordination, and specimen management coordination. The Assistant Director helps the Director lead operational management for effective and efficient clinical research support operations across HRI. This oversight includes adequate resourcing, training, and support for the critical early drug development program (Phase I) in addition to the phase II and III of clinical studies conducted within the HonorHealth system. This role will provide consultation and support to key evaluation components of HonorHealth Research Institute's programs and distribute research findings to healthcare staff and HRI leadership. The Assistant Director plays a critical role in developing and maintaining relationships between the organization and clinical departments as well as relevant business partners. Responsibilities will include providing high-level management clinical support operations. The Assistant Director is accountable for efficient process development, management, research integration, and effective recruitment of personnel, developing, and maintaining appropriate key performance indicators (KPIs), staff acuity modeling for program support that meets the organization's strategic initiatives. The Assistant Director will work closely with physician-scientists, administrators, clinicians, and researchers to understand their goals and provide recommendations and support services for the advancement of the clinical research operations, ensuring its integrity at every point while adjudicating complex issues pertaining to integrations with other shared support cores at HRI. Other general support includes close coordination with service lines, organization, implementation, and participation in HRI-related leadership and scientific meetings and events. The incumbent will require the effective utilization of interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with senior administrative staff in multiple settings, divisions, and sites to foster collaborative research activities by providing research and methodological support for personnel. Serves as tactical point person as it relates to the coordination of clinical trials within the context of patient care, staff development, physician relationships, quality initiatives, program development, and system-wide success. Assures evidence-based training and standards by creating an environment that encourages the use of standards in research practices. Other assignments will include support and participation in HRI related leadership and scientific meetings and events.
Qualifications Education Bachelor's Degree with at least 8 years of progressive research operational experience in at least one of the areas being overseen such as research operations, research coordination, research regulatory management, OR Master's/Doctorate in a relevant field with at least 4 years of progressive research operational experience Required Experience Minimum 8 years of experience in research and/or research oversight in a hospital or university setting. Required 3 years Demonstrated ability to build collaborative governance with physician-scientists, researchers, administrators, and staff. Required 2 years Demonstrated ability to build consensus and take leadership roles to align and effectively manage research support core facilities Required 5 years Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and administrative skills to effectively contribute to managing relationships throughout a complex organization and ability to effect decisions and actions through influence rather than authority.
