Job Description

Position Summary

The Compliance Services Supervisor is responsible for managing the implementation and coordination of EGW's compliance services operations, and any action plans which promote growth in the compliance services division. The Compliance Services Supervisor duties include assisting in the overall management of EGW contractors which provide training and compliance services, building relationships within the natural gas services community, and staying abreast of industry compliance and training trends. Additional areas of responsibility include safety and regulatory compliance, staffing, coordination of training, contractor development, scheduling, process development & improvement, ensuring compliance services profit margin goals are achieved/exceeded, and enforcing company standards and procedures.

The Compliance Services Supervisor will be the primary point of contact with customer personnel for coordinating work, ensuring overall operational efficiencies, and overseeing the quality of compliance services provided by EGW. Having an extensive knowledge of the Industry's operator qualification and training needs, governmental regulations, and maintaining industry contacts is critical to the success of this position. This position is directly responsible for leading the Compliance Services team.

The Compliance Services Supervisor will assist in representing the Compliance Services division and its needs relative to company decision making and improvement initiatives. This position works closely with the Utility Solutions Group to assist in promotion and sales of the compliance services offered by EGW. This position builds strong working relationships by working closely with company managers and utilizing the Entrepreneurial Operating System (EOS) management system to aid in the identity and resolution of inter and intra-departmental issues. This position is responsible for attending and contributing to inter-organizational meetings.

In this role the Compliance Services Supervisor will help solve problems, make connections, and serve others. Additionally, the Compliance Services Supervisor will strive to improve Compliance Services processes with a goal toward delivering "superior customer service."

This position works closely with the Vice President of Service Delivery and all other departments to promote and inspire Extra Mile thinking and performance companywide. The Compliance Services Supervisor shall possess character, professionalism, humility, and integrity with a focus on service and support.

Essential Functions/Duties of the position included, but not limited to

  • Assists in the development and execution of EGW's strategy and plans for Compliance and Training services
  • Assists in building and maintaining a pool of qualified contract trainers, evaluators, and proctors in targeted geographies to support all Compliance Service's needs
  • Maintains and/or obtains all self-qualifications and certifications necessary to perform the functions on a qualified EGW Trainer/Evaluator and participates in providing these services in that capacity
  • Helps to develop and maintain the optimal contractor workforce to provide the highest quality services at the highest profitability
  • Attends and comes prepared to scheduled meetings by asking informed questions, completing action items on time, and making constructive contributions in discussions/meetings
  • Oversees all Compliance Service's projects in conjunction while coordinating with the Compliance Services Administrator: these may include scheduling, logistics, and coordinating with customer personnel to ensure customer requirements and expectations are met.
  • Ensures that purchase/sales order and invoice processing is accurately and timely completed
  • Maintains and builds relationships with gas utility management, governmental agencies, and vendors within the compliance services industry (i.e., OQ and Training)
  • Stays current with industry regulations, operator qualification, training needs and trends
  • Provides input for departmental needs and management of departmental budgets
  • Partners with customers to understand their business needs and objectives
  • Creates strong relationships with key client stakeholders at both senior and mid-management level
  • Works with EGW leadership to develop and maintain pricing structures for Compliance Services to achieve optimal profitability
  • Assists with the management of Industrial Training Services, Energy World Net and other key industry partner relationships
  • Ensures strict adherence to EGW's safety policies and standards by its clients, contractors and employees when involved in compliance services activities
  • Documents, monitors, and continually improves all departmental personnel, processes, and procedures through Quality Assurance and Control audits. Ensure employees/contractors maintain the proper tools and procedures to successfully perform their respective job functions
  • Other duties assigned by Supervisor

This position reports to the Vice President of Service Delivery

Supervisory Responsibility

This position is responsible for all contractors within the Compliance Services division. Supervisory responsibilities may include assisting with interviewing, hiring, training employees (contractors), planning, assigning, directing work, approval of timecards, appraising performance, rewarding, disciplining, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment and in the field. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines, and tools or equipment used in the utility industry.

Position Type and Expected Hours

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 40 hours per week. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 10 or more years of OQ and Training experience
  • Minimum of 5 years management experience in the natural gas industry
  • Proven experience meeting or exceeding goals
  • Strong strategic and planning skills
  • Proven ability to develop long-term relationships with industry peers
  • Excellent listening, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Excellent supervisory and interpersonal skills.
  • Experienced skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in financial management and departmental budgeting
  • Reliable mode of transportation- ability to work the hours of operation for this role

Other Requirements

  • As a trainer in a Safety-Sensitive position, pre- and post-employment screenings, including but not limited to drug testing as outlined by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and Pipeline & Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), and motor vehicle record (MVR) background checks are required.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, or related field
  • Experienced in using a CRM system (Tour de force (TDF), Salesforce, etc.)
  • Experienced in using an ERP (SAP, Oracle, Epicor Prophet 21, or Epicor Eclipse)
  • Experience working for a distributor or wholesale business or training services company
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Experience with underground utility products, i.e., waterworks, plumbing and natural gas utilities
