Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD)staff couple the latest in information system technologies, such as elastic compute clouds, containerization, microservices, real-time operating systems, and visualization frameworks, with expertise in cyber security, software architecture, software engineering, data science, Artificial Intelligence, process improvement, and software development to deliver responsive, resilient, high-performance software intensive systems to our Intelligence Community, DoD, and civilian customers.

The Data-centric Platforms and Architectures Department (DPAD) seeks a creative and enthusiastic Engineering Manager to lead a team of cloud-native and data application development engineers passionate about building, deploying, and managing modern applications in cloud computing environments across the space enterprise.

The Engineering Manager will lead a team focused on developing and implementing cloud-based services. This includes deploying containers and ensuring the interconnection and interoperability of cloud services across multiple cloud environments. The team will work with resilient microservice architectures and distributed data platforms. We aim to leverage the strengths of various cloud service providers-such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud-to meet our customers' specific needs for cost optimization, scalability, flexibility, and resilience.

Work Model

This is a fulltime position based in Colorado Springs, Co which requires 100% onsite work.

What You'll Be Doing

Primarytechnicalfunctions include:

  • Lead technical teams and contribute to technical tasks.
  • Coordinate with customers to determine tasking, planning, report progress, resolve technical issues, and ensure project success.
  • Assign responsibilities to engineering and support personnel to achieve requirements.
  • Propose technical efforts, including task planning, scheduling, and labor estimates.
  • Provide recommendations to customers for budget planning.

Primarymanagerialfunctions include:

  • Develop and mentor early-career technical staff.
  • Recommend staffing needs, reassignments, transfers, performance improvements, career development, and promotional actions.
  • Hire and onboard technical staff, determined by department/corporate hiring plans.
  • Monitor and evaluate processes, techniques, and performance of teammates.
  • Report activities, accomplishments, and recommendations to management and staff
  • Participation in inter-organizational technical exchanges, team building, and education
  • Find opportunities for additional, expanded, or new business. Aid in the evaluation and pursuit of new business opportunities
  • Connect with customers to improve tasking coordination and understand mission needs.
  • Manage and contribute to internal research and development activities, coordinate corporately across organizations and with strategic focus areas.
  • Implement more effective and efficient processes.

What You Need to be Successful -

Minimum Requirements:Manager- (Software Architecture Engineering and Cloud Computing Architecture)

  • Bachelor's degree in STEM, with an emphasis in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field(s)
  • 8 or more years of experience with increasing responsibility in cloud and data engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate and complete tasks, learn new technical approaches, and interact effective with a broad range of organizations.
  • Experience in cloud-native development using cloud technologies like microservices and containers.
  • Experience designing and implementing cloud-native backend APIs running in Kubernetes.
  • Expertise in major cloud platforms AWS, Azure, Google Cloud.
  • Experience with at least two different programming languages (e.g. Java, Python, C/C++.)
  • Willing to travel occasionally to work location or customer site approx. if required.
  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
  • Willingness travel may be required.

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • Advanced degree in STEM with an emphasis in Computer Science or other sciences/engineering discipline.
  • Oversee the deployment, management, and cost optimization of services across multiple cloud platforms.
  • Hands on experience in synchronizing data among multiple cloud platforms.
  • Experience on planning for salability, disaster recovery, and compliance across cloud platforms.

We offer a competitive compensation package where you'll be rewarded based on your performance and recognized for the value you bring to our business. The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.

$134,200 - $201,300 Pay Basis: Annual
