The CFO is responsible for reporting the financial condition of the organization and Is the chief financial spokesperson for the organization. The CFO is responsible for financial operations while promoting the efficient and effective use of organizational resources. The CFO directly assists the Chief Operating Officer (COO) on all strategic and tactical matters as they relate to corporate budget management, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs and securing new funding.
- Works with the President/CEO and Chief Operating Officer on the strategic vision including fostering and cultivating stakeholder relationships on local, state and federal levels.
- Designs and maintains corporate accounting systems and records. Optimizes ERP systems to support decision-making and accurate financial reporting.
- Trains the Accounting and Finance Unit and other staff on raising awareness and knowledge of financial management matters.
- Ensures adequate controls are installed and that substantiating documentation is approved and available such that all purchases may pass Independent and governmental audits.
- Develops and maintains systems of internal controls to safeguard financial assets of the organization and oversee federal and state awards and programs and commercial contracts
- Oversees federally mandated Cost Accounting Standards accounting standards, when required.
- Manages banking relationships and monitors banking activities of the organization to assure exposure to fraud, theft, waste and other losses are minimized.
- Leads M&A activities including due diligence and integration.
- Manages the treasury function in accordance with Didlake's investment Policy to achieve best return on Investment while protecting the organization's core investment.
- Ensures adequate cash flow to meet the organization's needs.
- Oversees the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities for the organization
- Including organizational revenue and expense and balance sheet reports; reporting to funding agencies; and the development and monitoring of organizational data, contracts, and grant budgets.
- Oversees Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable and ensures a disaster recovery plan is In place.
- Oversees the production of monthly reports, including reconciliations, as well as financial statements and investment reports for use by executive management as well as the Audit or Finance Committee and Board of Directors.
- Attends Board and Committee meetings, including being the lead staff on the Audit/Finance Committees.
- Works with the Chief Operating Officer to ensure programmatic success through cost analysis support, and compliance with all contractual and programmatic requirements, including interpreting legislative and programmatic rules and regulations to ensure compliance with all federal, state, local and contractual guidelines; ensure all government regulations and requirements are disseminated to appropriate personnel and, monitor compliance with same.
- Oversees the coordination and activities of independent auditors ensuring all audit Issues are resolved, and aIl403(b), 457(b) and 401(k) compliance issues are met, and the preparation of the annual financial statements Is In accordance with U.S. GAAP and IRS requirements for a 501(c) (3) organization.
- Serves as one of the Trustees and oversee administration and financial reporting of the organization's 403(b), 401(k), 457(b) and 457(f) plans.
- Reviews and manages the investments available In the Dldlake retirement and deferred compensation plans.
- In conjunction with the Vice President of Human Resources, investigates and negotiates cost effective benefit plans and other fringe benefits which the organization may offer employees and potential employees with the goal of attracting and retaining qualified employees.
- In conjunction with Corporate Counsel, manages the compliance program.
- Assures Summary Plan Descriptions are complete and distributed to all participants; assure all related 401(k) disclosures are met; assure all required Form 5500s are reviewed and filed timely.
- Assures accounting for restricted funds meets all technical and legal reqUirements.
- In coordination with the Chief Operating Officer and Corporate Counsel, manages the risk management program, including corporate business insurance plans and health care coverage analysis.
- Serves as Treasurer to the Didlake Foundation and oversees production of monthly financial reports and annual IRS reporting.
- Manages corporate health and safety program.
- Oversees the maintenance of the inventory of all fixed assets. Assures proper use and maintenance of all real and personal property owned by the organization.
- Assumes responsibility for managing the timeliness and accuracy of all payroll tax reports filed by the 3rd party payroll service.
- Communicates Dldlake's mission, vision and values throughout the organization to create a corporate culture that supports the organization's needs.
- Provides leadership to staff by fostering teamwork while balancing team and Individual responsibilities; gives feedback to nurture a positive team spirit and quality performance; and models dependability, hard work, strong business ethics and a professional personal appearance.
