Overview

Overview:

The purpose of the internship is to provide meaningful professional hands-on experience to students with leadership potential and proven academic performance. Werfen hires students majoring in Engineering and Life Sciences fields into this internship program based on business need. Ideal candidates will combine technical and business knowledge with analytical strength and creative problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

Position Description

  • Assist with the implementation of the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Program under the direction of the EHS Officer.
  • Assists with implementation of ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
  • Assists with improvements to recycling and reuse programs.
  • Assist with improvements to the contractor safety training program.
  • Assist with the implementation of Environmental Objectives and Targets.
  • Inspect fall protection & spill response equipment.
  • Work with all departments to update chemical inventories and Safety Data Sheets (SDS's) in an online system.
  • Assists with other projects, as assigned by the EHS Officer.

Key Attributes

  • Interested in working in a manufacturing or laboratory setting in the Environmental, Health & Safety field upon graduation.
  • Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong interpersonal & organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and multitask.
Qualifications
Minimum Knowledge & Experience Required for the Position:
  • Currently pursuing B.S. in Environmental Sciences, Occupational Health & Safety, Chemistry, Engineering, or related program with a minimum of 4 college semesters complete.
