Description

A Marketing Manager for the Federal market sector requires strong leadership qualities, team management skills, strategic thinking, flexibility, creativity, excellent writing and editing skills, a well-developed graphic eye, and attention to detail. A Federal Marketing Manager will be responsible for managing marketing and pursuit activities as part of the Federal Market Sector Leadership Team.

General responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:



  • Manage and contribute to the development, implementation, and communication/distribution of firm-wide and market sector specific plans and budget (includes corporate marketing plan, market sector strategic plan, and expanding existing markets and locations, etc.)
  • Contribute to the management of marketing activities, expenses, and other key metrics for a designated market sector as directed by the Marketing Director and Federal Market Sector Leadership
  • Manage and maintain relationships with existing and potential partners and subconsultants
  • Collaborate with other Federal Market Sector Leadership Team members to develop client and pursuit management plans
  • Evaluate and make decisions for potential pursuits as part of the firm's Go/No-Go process in collaboration with other members of the Market Sector Leadership Team
  • Collaborate with the communications team for market-specific communications needs such as email marketing, social media, news, and blog content, etc.
  • Represent the firm externally through participation in professional organizations and some promotional activities
  • Influence benchmarking in designated market sector including competition, strategic intelligence, and market/industry trends and contribute to internal benchmarking for efficiency and effectiveness
  • Oversee day-to-day marketing program and provide final marketing decisions for designated market sector
  • Manage strategy development, budgets, schedule, preparation, and submission of marketing packages including proposals, statements of qualification, design awards, and presentations
  • Manage participation of staff at market sector-specific conferences and other special events
  • Perform quality assurance/quality control for all marketing materials within a designated market sector
  • Perform regular marketing audits as assigned by the Director of Marketing
  • Manage the collection and organization of information and images into content libraries, facilitating access to the information by others
  • Manage and delegate the collection of project data including key details, photography, descriptions, client testimonials, post-occupancy surveys, energy efficiency, etc.
  • Implement and ensure adherence to company identity, branding, and visuals as directed by Marketing Director or CMO
  • Manage debriefs (internal/external; proposals/interviews)
  • Identify, recommend, and assist with marketing related staff training programs, policies, or procedures
  • Manage the hiring, supervision, mentorship, coaching, and training of Sr. Marketing Coordinators, Marketing Coordinators, Marketing Assistants, and any other assigned employees
  • Manage internal resources (software/hardware, tools, booth equipment, proposal supplies and promotional items), including updates, inventory
  • Assist other Marketing Managers as needed
  • Perform any other assignments or tasks as needed or requested by management to assist in accomplishing the organization's mission, objectives, and goals.
  • Occasional travel may be required.



Education, Technology and Experience



  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Journalism, or related field with 7-10 years of relevant leadership experience preferred
  • Without a degree, 10-15 years of relevant A/E/C leadership experience required
  • CPSM (Certified Professional Services Marketer) certification is preferred but not required
  • SAME (Society of American Military Engineers) membership and history of participation in events is preferred
  • A Marketing Manager should be able to effectively utilize current company software programs for word processing, e-mail, and information management. Programs include:

    • Adobe InDesign
    • MS Dynamics, Deltek Vision, or equivalent CRM software
    • MS Word
    • MS Excel
    • MS Outlook
    • MS PowerPoint


  • Experience in the use of the following program is desirable:

    • Adobe Photoshop
    • Open Asset





Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities



  • Extensive hands-on experience preparing responses to government and commercial RFPs and RFQs for A/E/C services is strongly preferred. Familiarity with industry specific forms including SF330s, SF254/255s, and Virginia AEs.
  • Present an organized application and resume
  • Possess excellent written communication skills, being able to prepare effective and concise documents, free of grammatical and spelling errors
  • Possess strong verbal communication skills, being comfortable communicating with senior-level management
  • Have an enthusiastic, client-oriented, can-do attitude with a desire to provide outstanding professional services
  • Be dedicated to his or her professional development as well as the success of colleagues and the firm as a whole



Physical Requirements

Work is sedentary and often performed in an office setting. Work area is lighted, heated, and ventilated. This position may require extended periods of standing, sitting, as well as some repetitive movements, bending and lifting of minimal weight.
