OverviewManages and oversees the daily operations of Corporate Volunteer Services. Optimizes gifts in kind donations from individuals and corporations; leads the administration of the Volunteer Council Benefit Fund. Performs administrative duties and other related functions as assigned. Works under general supervision.

What You Will Do

  • Plans, directs, and manages volunteer services for Hospice program in accordance with CMS Conditions of Participation.
  • Ensures that volunteer services are provided to clients and their families, which includes but is not limited to emotional support, socialization, companionship and relief to family/caregivers.
  • Manages and coordinates a team of Hospice volunteers located in one or more region(s). Assigns, supervises and evaluates the performance of volunteer activities. Coordinates logistics of patients' visits, oversees and ensures necessary documentation is completed after visit, and program runs to maximum effectiveness.
  • Tracks trends and data to measure, analyze and monitor program performance. Prepares reports and makes recommendations as appropriate to promote program's growth and success.
  • Ensures effective procedures are established and followed to ensure compliance (i.e. volunteer background checks, HIPAA training, Health Services requirements).
  • Participates as a member of the Interdisciplinary Team to identify the need for volunteers and collaborates with the team in the development of the interdisciplinary plan of care. Facilitates effective communication between volunteers and clinical staff.
  • Recruits and retains volunteers while meeting the necessary program needs. .
  • Ensures that volunteers receive necessary training, on-going continuing education and other support systems.
  • Responsibilities
  • Develops and expands role of volunteers based on assignments, projects, contemporary leading practices and newly identified needs and opportunities.
  • Maintains awareness of leading practices and collaborates with management team for developing community education programs. Represents Hospice in community groups workgroups and to organizations as needed.
  • Attends and participates at Hospice Management Team and QAPI (Quality Assurance Performance Improvement) meetings.
  • Develops and maintains record-keeping system of volunteer activity to meet Medicare Conditions of Participation (COP) of 5% direct care delivered by volunteers. Establishes and maintains volunteer personnel files, supervises the completion of necessary documentation, ensures completion of training, and in-service attendance and references.
  • Performs all duties inherent in a managerial role. Ensures effective staff training, evaluates staff performance, provides input for the development of the department budget, and hires, promotes, and terminates staff as appropriate. Ensures completion of annual compliance requirements. .
  • Promotes and publicizes volunteer opportunities online and other sources. Screens, interviews and onboards volunteer candidates.
Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Humanities, Education, Sociology, Psychology or the equivalent Required

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of three years of office administration/management related experience Required
  • Volunteer Management/Philanthropy experience Preferred
  • Proficiency in personal computers including, Adobe, Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, and Power Point Required
  • Familiarity with Raisers Edge software and Workday Preferred
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, proactive and follow-up skills Required
  • Effective oral/written communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently Required
