Senior DevOps Engineer

As the Senior DevOps Engineer you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of enterprise business applications. This role will bridge communications between business users and information technologists, implement new capabilities and improve existing processes to support enterprise IT applications.

This position will be located at our Indianapolis Corporate office, working closely with regional offices and field locations and collaborating with application stakeholders, project managers and additional IT teams and support personnel. Occasional travel and an on-call rotation is a requirement of this position.

Essential Functions & Requirements:



  • Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and maintaining safe practices at all times
  • Creates and maintains CI/CD process to support Company development teams
  • Designs an infrastructure and configuration management strategy including, but not limited to, Infrastructure as Code, Container Environment, and Infrastructure compliance and security
  • Develops, implements and maintains Provisioning and Configuration Management with Ansible (predominantly), Azure, and VMWare environments
  • Designs and optimizes feedback mechanisms for development teams; establishes monitoring tools, metrics, and notifications allowing for rapid response to system issues
  • Identifies, creates, and implements fixes for potential security and performance issues for infrastructure and applications
  • Sets up and configures load balancers, firewalls, DNS, SSL and network connectivity to support software systems
  • Solicits, interprets, and documents business requirements by interfacing directly with business users and key stakeholders
  • Serves as a liaison between IT and business users to resolve differences between key stakeholders and external application vendors
  • Maintains ownership of system issues, support requests, projects and improvement tasks, with some supervision
  • Provides Tier 3 support for issues that are unresolved by in-house Tier 1 and Tier 2 technicians
  • Coordinates and executes system upgrades including validation, benchmarking, UAC testing and debugging
  • Coordinates new feature rollout training with administrators and power users
  • Evaluates new and emerging technologies specific to Company industry; makes recommendations as applicable
  • Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization


Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in information technology (required)


Experience:



  • 5+ years of experience in Linux Operating Systems or application administration (required)
  • Required Technical Skills:

    • Reading and writing basic scripts for automation (e.g. YAML, Bash, PowerShell)
    • RedHat Enterprise Linux and Ansible experience
    • Supporting a wide range of applications running on UNIX/Linux and Windows operating systems
    • Working with leading cloud platforms such as Azure and AWS
    • Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Kubespray, CI/CD tools such as Git, TeamCity or Jira
    • Understanding of DNS, CDN, SSL and networking concepts
    • Building and deploying containerized software in both cloud and on-premises environments
    • Hands-on experience with automation and configuration tools such as Ansible, Chef or Terraform
    • Familiarity with managing database instances
    • Familiarity with testing and code quality tools
    • Operational understanding to identify bottlenecks, profiling and load testing
