Job Title: Porter

Lead Porters-Maintenance will play a pivotal role in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of our facility. If you are passionate about keeping spaces clean and organized, this role is perfect for you!

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU:

  • Schedule: 1st Shift, 7:00am to 4:00pm, Monday through Friday with opportunities for overtime. (possible weekends and holidays)

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH:

*Maintaining and Management of all waste recyclables and solid waste, internal and external, of the factory.

  • Learn to lead others and work as a team.
  • Responsible for factory property from fence line to fence line and external fence.
  • Oversees training and cross-training for employees to give optimum coverage for each department's jobs, and for department supervision while personnel are away from work. Active involvement in daily safety briefs. Will contribute to the hiring and disciplinary decisions following established Company policies.

*Identify key skills by area of their scope (Blending UHT, aseptic filling etc) for a successful operator / maintenance tech.

*Meet with Leads and supervisors to get their input and sign off on evaluations.

*Assess and deliver training to the trainees in their area of responsibility.

*Evaluate training effectiveness by identifying trainee competency gaps each week.

*Resolve trainee issues/complaints when necessary or escalate to Training Coordinator.

*Complete trainer evaluation with trainee after qualification. Discuss results with trainer.

*Turn in evaluations and JITs with all required signatures to Training Coordinator weekly.

*Drive the operational training with new hires to reduce training cycles.

*Mixture of classroom and on-floor training.

*Utilize training aids to facilitate better quality training.

*Conduct JIT Validation if employee is returning to a machine, they haven't run for more than 6 months. They will also conduct these validations for RTW employees.

*Help facilitate gaining Team Qualification status to operators.

*Help Manager, Supervisor and Leads to stay on top of their team's Skills matrix.

*Trained in the Nestle Health Science HACCP program to identify critical steps and their instructions critical to effective implementation and maintenance of the Food Safety Plan.

*Perform all other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have basic proficiency of English language to comply with verbal directions, signs, policies and procedures.
  • Proven knowledge of area of responsibility (Process / Filling etc) - at least 1-2 years
  • At least 6 months Forklift experience required.
  • At least 1 year experience in manufacturing or warehousing environment.
  • Experience developing training aids and documentation.
  • History of good safety and quality performance.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Basic computer skills (word, excel, PowerPoint)
  • Able to work in different extreme climates. (cold, hot, outdoors, etc.)

SKILLS:

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to multi-task and flex schedule when necessary to achieve goals of Training Department.
  • Physical stamina to handle manual labor tasks.
  • Previous experience in a similar role is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tool
  • Basic use of power tools
  • Work independently.
  • Good communication skills (written & verbal)
  • Works well in team setting.
  • Ability to work with and understand SDS or hazardous chemicals.
  • Willing to learn new skills as you develop in your role.
  • Willing to learn new roles to advance career within the company.
