Responsibilities for this Position

General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Director of Program Performance Management. The position provides an opportunity to enhance the performance and profitability of an organization that supports some of our nation's most critical defense activities and programs. This role offers the chance to work with business leadership to lay out a business and technical strategy to develop high-end computing systems that are critical to the warfighter and help drive long-term business growth. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that help enable them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Program Performance Management to lead our functional organization. This role is critical in driving strategic planning, execution, and controls across our portfolio of defense systems programs, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives, and delivering exceptional value to our program teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Organizational Development:
    • Lead and mentor a team of Senior Managers, Managers, Planners, Schedulers, and Earned Value Management (EVM) Analysts.
    • Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
    • Develop and implement a career development program to cultivate future leaders within the organization.
  • Strategic Planning and Execution:
    • Oversee the development of Integrated Master Plans (IMP) and Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) that encompass required tasks, linkages, durations, resource optimization, and risk management.
    • Ensure alignment of program plans with organizational strategy and contractual requirements.
  • Performance Management and Analysis:
    • Establish and maintain performance measurement baselines.
    • Guide teams in risk identification, mitigation planning, opportunity identification, and realization planning.
    • Conduct variance analysis and provide corrective actions to ensure program success.
  • Process Improvement and Technology Integration:
    • Leverage current technologies, including AI, to reduce mundane tasks and enhance the team's focus on providing actionable analysis and proactive management support.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize processes and increase efficiency.
  • Training and Certification:
    • Manage training programs and support site and company EVMS compliance and certifications.
    • Ensure teams are equipped with the knowledge and skills required for effective program performance management.
  • Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:
    • Conduct business briefings for senior and top management, as well as external representatives, to communicate progress, challenges, and project outcomes effectively.
    • Maintain strong relationships with external customers, subcontractors, government auditing agencies, and tool vendors.
  • Policy and Governance:
    • Establish policies appropriate for the Program Planning and Controls function.
    • Interpret and recommend modifications to company-wide policies and practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field; Master's preferred.
  • 18 years of leadership experience; 16 years with a Master's degree.
  • Strong understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM) principles and practices.
  • Proven track record in leading large-scale program planning and controls initiatives.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making skills.
  • Ability to foster cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in program management.


Target salary range: USD $233,814.00/Yr. - USD $252,994.00/Yr.
