Job Description

You will be responsible for providing and managing resources for the safe and effective performance of vibration, temperature, humidity and safety agency tests. Responsible for maintaining the knowledge of the various certification standards/specifications pertaining to Rockwell Automation products, for advising engineers in the development of products conforming to those requirements, for assisting in the performance of certification testing, for solving problems related to tests and for helping develop methods for improvements to certification testing. Serve as lab technical manager in accordance to ISO/IEC 17025. Responsible for computer and network utilities used to enhance department accessibility, storage of test data, and test record and report management. You will report to the Manager of Chemistry and Materials Engineer. You will work onsite from our Mayfield Heights, OH facility.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Performs Shock & Vibration Testing in accordance with internal and industry test standards
  • Consults with customers to modify and implement test fixtures suitable for the device under test
  • Assists technicians and engineers in the set up and test of products in lab temperature/Humidity test chambers. Develops test profiles and conditions in accordance with internal and external standards.
  • Assists engineers & technicians performing electrical safety agency compliance test in accordance with UL 61010-2 utilizing laboratory test equipment
  • Maintains and ensures calibration of lab test equipment
  • Assist Product Performance Test, Design Engineering, Marketing and Customer Support Services in analyzing and solving test-related problems.
  • Provide or assist in providing engineering documentation regarding certification testing.
  • Support initiatives maintaining compliance or accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025.
  • Continuously look for ways to improve efficiency and methodology in laboratory systems and procedures.
  • Where applicable (i.e. laboratory staff who generate, handle or dispose of hazardous or potentially hazardous waste(s) and laboratory staff who work near, around or have the potential to handle or come into contact with hazardous waste(s)), laboratory staff will appropriately handle, segregate and dispose of all hazardous wastes and potentially hazardous wastes. Hazardous waste duties will be performed in accordance with federal and state regulations, as well as Rockwell Automation Policies and Procedures. Hazardous wastes will be handled by staff only after appropriate training has been completed.
The Essentials - You Will Have:
  • BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
  • 2+ years of experience in performing product evaluations and qualification testing of electrical, electronic or electromechanical products
  • Experience in Shock & Vibration, temperature rise, overload and endurance and temperature/humidity testing and test equipment
  • Experience in hardware and/or software evaluation. (e.g., functionally, and/or from a system perspective)
  • Knowledge of computer systems, networks, and programming. (e.g. UNIX, Linux, Microsoft, Perl, SQL, XHTML, XML, Javascript, etc.)
